What do the Brewers got to pay Grandal next year if they want him to catch?

Best catcher on the free agent market. I think he gets 4 years in the $15MM/yr range and possibly 5 years if he signs with an AL team.

Oh got it. Thanks! I took a quick look at his Baseball-Ref page and looked at birthplace (Riverside, CA), but he must've moved. Which MLB team is closest to Oklahoma?
I'll google it.
5:46
Looks like the Rangers, Cardinals and Royals are all close if he wants to pitch near his hometown.

Looking ahead to next season, which players ML debut are you looking forward to the most?

Too many to name here. Vlad Jr., of course. Would be cool if Bichette and Biggio also made it to Toronto in '19. Eloy. Tatis Jr. Luzardo. Brent Honeywell and AJ Puk are both recovering from TJ surgery but could debut in 2nd half.

Which Yankee do you think will pitch the one day play off fame?

Have to think they'll try to line up Tanaka or J.A. Happ.

What will be the club’s excuses for keeping Guerrero jr and Jimenez down in AAA to gain the extra year of services?
AvatarJason Martinez

The reasons are obvious. They just can't say it out loud for legal reasons. If they bring them up now or on Opening Day '19 and they never go back to the minors, they'll be free agents after the '24 season. If they wait, they'll be under team control thru '25. Most fans of those teams would rather get the extra year with a player who will be in their prime. I know I would. In the case of Vlad Jr., the Jays don't have to add him to the 40-man roster this offseason so that frees up a valuable spot to protect a player from the Rule 5. So they have one more excuse than the White Sox.

Is it still possible the Cubs collapse and lose division?
AvatarJason Martinez
5:58
Sure. Brewers and Cardinals are no joke and they're only 2 and 4 games back. But I wouldn't count on it. Cubs are battle-tested. They have too many good players on that team.

Is Cole Hamels a lock to be with Cubs past this season?
AvatarJason Martinez

Not a lock. But with the way he's pitched, it's more likely they'll pick up his club option. They'd go into '19 with Hamels, Darvish (assuming he's healthy), Lester, Quintana, Hendricks, Montgomery and Drew Smyly. Depth is good when you can stash guys in AAA, but all 7 of those guys have to be on the 25-man roster. Montgomery can pitch out of the 'pen. But I'm assuming someone is getting traded.

In fantasy land, who do you think would be more probable to sign in San Diego between Machado and Harper?
AvatarJason Martinez
6:04
Their need is SS or 3B so Machado would make the most sense. With Myers under contract, Margot, Franchy Cordero, Renfroe, Jankowski, Franmil and possibly Francisco Mejia (if they don't trade him), they have plenty of OF options. Not that he wouldn't make that offense much better, but I don't think they'd spend all that $ for another OF. Needs to be superstar who can man 3B or S for the next 6-10 years.

Gotta run. Thanks for chatting!  Same time and place next week.
