Steve Adams
3:32
Unrealistic expectations, a lack of understanding of player development and a general "instant gratification" mentality that permeates our society as a whole?

Mike Trout hit .220/.281/.390 in 135 PAs as a rookie.

3:32
What r the chances the brewers finish 2nd in the division?
Steve Adams
3:33
Minuscule? I can't see them outperforming either Pittsburgh, St. Louis or Chicago... let alone two of the three.
RelieveMe
3:33
Bucs bullpen a sleeper?
Steve Adams
3:33
Some really intriguing arms back there -- still think Nicasio can have a huge year in the 'pen, and I think the Daniel Hudson deal is going to be a good one for them.

Why doesn't nfltraderumors have these informative chats?
Steve Adams
3:35
Our NFL affiliate is called Pro Football Rumors, and Zach Links (our editor/lead writer there) recently began hosting them each week.
3:36
I'm not sure if he's settled into a regular time slot, but keep an eye out this week, and feel free to ask me next week as well... I can ask what his regular time slot is going to be and get back to you, if you like.

I do think Lucroy deserves to be booed in Cleveland. I'm not a fan of booing ever.
Steve Adams
3:37
"This guy exercised a contractual right that was included in his contract for a reason after our president and GM were up-front and honest about the fact that he wouldn't be our primary catcher in 2017, which would severely hamper his free-agent stock. LET'S BOO HIM."

Nope.
Especially not after Lucroy was candid and honest about the decision with the media. I commend him for the way in which he handled the situation and don't blame him one bit for vetoing the deal -- especially considering he's on one of the most hilariously team-friendly deals in the Majors and probably has one shot at getting a monster payday.

3:38
Do you think Brantley can be as good as he was in 2014?
Steve Adams
3:38
I wouldn't even project Brantley to play in 100 games this year coming off two seasons' worth of shoulder troubles.
Chuckles
3:39
Addison Reed is the best reliever the Mets have. What are the chances he takes the closer job while familia is suspended and keeps it once familia is back?
Steve Adams
3:39
I think a healthy Familia is a better pitcher than Reed. I can see it happening if Familia stinks out of the gate upon returning, but the ninth seems like his role to lose whenever he's activated
Chris sullivan
3:39
What will happen with both the Mets and Red Sox catching situation
Steve Adams
3:40
Leon and Vazquez open the season as the catcher in Boston, with Swihart to AAA.

d'Arnaud and Rivera in New York, with Plawecki to AAA.

(Assuming no injuries on either club)
Cookie Monster
3:40
Do you think Jerad Eickoff has a big year?
Steve Adams
3:41
He already had a pretty big year. I don't know that I foresee a huge step forward out of him in terms of anything other than innings pitched, but 210-220 innings of a 3.75-3.80 ERA or so is a pretty damn nice season.
Coach Molitor
3:41
Where would you bat Mauer? I can't decide. Is the No. 6 hole too far down?
Steve Adams
3:41
Leadoff against righties, sixth or so versus lefties would be fine
David Robertson
3:42
After Blanton signed with Nats? Where am I going to be traded.
Steve Adams
3:42
I don't think Blanton going there precludes anything on the Robertson front, but I've been saying the past few weeks that I think the Sox' next notable trade will come after Opening Day unless an injury on another team creates some urgency.
Ron Mexico
3:43
Have you ever had a shattered bat stuck in your sternum?
Steve Adams
3:43
I sure haven't. But in my first little league game a teammate lost the handle on a practice swing in the on-deck circle and sent his bat flying into my face, which broke my nose. Ah, memoies.
Memories, even*
3:44
(That's a true story, by the way)

3:44
Profar and Gallo for Quintana, who hangs up?
Steve Adams
3:44
White Sox
Dayton Moore
3:44
Dyson, Hosmer, Moustakas and Escobar. Who should I focus most of my effort on extending?
Steve Adams
3:44
He already traded Dyson!
3:45
Escobar's replaceable with Mondesi or any free agent/trade acquisition that can post a .310 OBP or better. Moustakas, if healthy, gets my vote as the toughest of the bunch to replace. (Sorry, Cheslor Cuthbert)
Steve
3:45
Worst trade in the past three years ( meaning from 2015-2017 )?
Steve Adams
3:45
Gotta be the Shelby disaster.
Dayton Moore
3:46
Oops. Meant Lorenzo Cain
Steve Adams
3:46
Cain over Moose over Hoz, then. Though Cain's already 32 and is going to want too many years.
Jonathan
3:47
Do you like thr WBC?
Steve Adams
3:48
I love the WBC. I watch as much of it as I can -- it's a rare look at tons of international talent that we don't necessarily get to see, and I love the passion and enthusiasm that so many teams bring to the tournament. It's tons of fun. I'm going to miss some of it on vacation this year, unfortunately, but I plan to try to catch as much as I can.

3:48
Is posey still the top catcher in baseball even after a somewhat down year offensively last year? Last year didn't really seem like Posey then the field like it has been
Steve Adams
3:49
If you wanted to argue for Lucroy being better in 2016, I wouldn't fight you on that, but I still rank Posey as the game's best all-around catcher.
