I don't think anyone will accept it. I thought that last year too though.
Aquizno
1:41
will royals have a sell-off
Tim Dierkes
1:43
I can see them trying to split the baby, moving some pieces but wanting to stay competitive. Honestly not sure if they'd be hurt much by trading Hosmer and replacing him more cheaply. Joakim Soria seems unnecessary. Things could really get interesting if they entertain trades for Danny Duffy this winter or in July.

Fowler is the best defensive FA CF? I think that honor goes to Gomez by at least a decent margin
Tim Dierkes
1:43
I'm not sure Gomez is much more than average anymore.
JB
1:43
Longo or Kiermaier or both realistic for STL?
Tim Dierkes
1:43
I think trades of those guys are unlikely.
Mike
1:44
Do you see the White Sox doing: 1) complete sell-off, 2) going for it, or 3) usual middling signings/trades?
Tim Dierkes
1:44
Picturing #3, but I have started to become open to the idea of them trading Sale or Quintana and still trying to contend.

Was Alex Gordon the worst big-name free agent from last year?
Tim Dierkes
1:44
That honor goes to Mr. Heyward.
Big Mike
1:45
Puig a fit in Toronto, to replace Bautista in RF?
Tim Dierkes
1:45
I can see it.
Nate
1:45
Most likely guy to accept the QO this year?
Tim Dierkes
1:45
I guess Trumbo, Hellickson, or Walker, but I don't expect that at all.
Jeremy
1:45
Are you guys going to be doing the MLB Free Agent Prediction Contest again this year?
Tim Dierkes
1:46
We're hoping to, but we have some technical hurdles to get past. And my wife is having a baby soon which could take me out of commission for a bit.
AJ
1:46
Chapman all but certainly back to Yankees? or does anyone else have a good chance
Tim Dierkes
1:46
No, I think people are too quick to assume that's happening.
Correction
1:46
I'm a little confused. In the Predictions, you guys say that Jansen is signing with the Cubs, but the last sentence of that paragraph reads, "should the Dodgers balk at the price, the Cubs, etc. could be alternatives". Which is the mistake? Just wanted to clarify.
Tim Dierkes
1:47
It wasn't a mistake...in the blurbs themselves I generally try not to dwell on any one team.
JP
1:47
Even if Fowler leaves, the Cubs have a full outfield situation. Do teams still value Soler's potential in a trade or is he a secondary piece at this point?
Tim Dierkes
1:47
Good question. I think teams are going to be intrigued by Soler. He hasn't done much in the Majors, but you can dream on him becoming a star.
RSO
1:48
Brett Gardner for Gio Gonzalez who says no?
Tim Dierkes
1:48
Makes some sense if Gardner can play CF.
John Mozeliak
1:48
Why would I sign Fowler? I said I want to upgrade the defense!
Tim Dierkes
1:49
First, I think fans take some of the things GMs say a bit too literally. Second, I've seen the names a lot of Cards fans would like to get for CF, and a lot of them seem unrealistic to me. That said, if I had to pick the Cardinals or the field for Fowler, I'd definitely pick the field!

Trumbo seems to be a guy no one is talking about, not a great defender but a great power bat. Any predictions, teams and money?
Tim Dierkes
1:50
Our list has 4/60 back to the Orioles. We debated him quite a bit and didn't find any good fits for teams, which is why I worry the contract projection is too high. I guess the Red Sox or Rangers could work.
Wilson Ramos
1:50
How about the Braves signing Jered Weaver? The situation seems to fit.
Tim Dierkes
1:50
I would picture them aiming a bit higher.
JR
1:50
Any relievers on the market who could be used as a shut down guy (not necessarily just a closer) like Miller and Chapman were utilized in the World Series?
Tim Dierkes
1:51
I can see guys like Neftali Feliz or Daniel Hudson working the late innings, but both have extensive injury histories, so they are probably not the multiple inning shutdown guys. So to answer your question, no.
John Mozeliak
1:51
Should I pursue Pollock?
Tim Dierkes
1:52
Sure, but there's no reason to think the DBacks are planning a sell-off.
Davey
1:52
Mets-Pirates good fit for Mccutchen trade?
Tim Dierkes
1:52
Depends on if you like a declining Cutch as your CF. Better than a lot of alternatives, maybe.
Brendon
1:52
Do you really see the Dodgers spending $200 million in free agency? I know they have the money, but Freidman hasn't shown a willingness to spend big single players yet.
Tim Dierkes
1:53
I wouldn't take it so much as a suggestion that the Dodgers will sign all of those players. But I would argue that Friedman has shown a willingness to take on large salaries, with their offers to Greinke and their attempt to acquire Braun.
Mark

Indians realistically in on someone not named Napoli?
