Yes.. that's probably just lighting around you.

Yes I noticed that when I sent you some problems.  I'm not sure if it was the paper or my lighting.  I thought I was usually reg computer paper.  I tend to buy the softer lights. It look like the paper I had done my practice problems on was ancient!

Around the department I am "famous/infamous" for red/blue pen on yellow legal pads... been my go-to for literally 25 years.. Hahaha..
You notice I ALWAYS use yellow legal pads... I'd stay away from that on an exam..
8:03
I just go plain white.. lined or unlined is your call
8:02
You probably want to stay away from colored paper..like recycled paper that has a little brown/tan in it.. it tends to take more space up when you convert it to an electronic file
Kasey
Cool.
8:02
I wasn't sure if you had a preference.

That's completely up to you.. I think it helps if you label your steps.. but I believe you already tend to do that...

I also saw on the mid term that you said organization is key.  I worried a little about it as I worked the problems. Would it be better or ok with you if I used lined paper?

ok cool

I think abbreviations are fine.. unless they are obscure..
Kasey

Any anything we are writing out on the exam needs to be actually written out?  No abbreviations?
7:54
ok gotcha!

For example.. while calculating "s".. keep 5/6 decimals for everything plugging INTO the formula.. and then when you get to the last step.. you can round to 3/4.
This is particularly important for the Case 4 calculations...
7:50
Ok.. so that (minor) issue can be fixed by keeping 5/6 decimals WHILE you are working toward a final answer and then rounding to 3/4 decimals for the FINAL answer in a calculation

There was a note about rounding.  I have always rounded to the 4th decimal point but it looks like you recommended I do more sometimes. What is the most I should rounds so that there isn't rounding issues?

OK.. go ahead.
Kasey
7:47
I think they may just be general questions.
AvatarGreg Miller
Oh wait.. I can get to it thru email.. just a sec...
7:47
Ok.. I'm not sure I have the midterm with me at the house.. let me look...

Hi Dr. Miller! I was hoping to check some of roadside case with you.  I also wanted to ask you some of the things I saw on my midterm that I got counted off for and I don't want to make those mistakes again.
