You usually want to position size off of your account balance.  So in your example, off of the $10k.  Then you split that $10k up across your positions so you don't have too much risk in each individual position.  That's a great question and a very in-depth topic, but let me know if you need more input on that!

Can you also explain the concept of position sizing.  So, you can have $10,000 account but options trading is only at $8,000 because of broker.  Is the position sizing based on account balance or trading balance?

Yes!  For example, if earnings is May 10th, he'd look to buy the protective put out into June.  (the standard June expiration is June 16th).  That gets your protection out beyond the earnings, but he'd still most likely close the entire trade down before the May 10th earnings

I wanted some clarification on what Brandon said that he wants to buy the long about a month beyond earnings but, he wants to be out of the trade before earnings.  Can that be explained more?

Yes it still can feel some of the volatility of earnings, but on a much smaller scale.  If the ETF is representing dozens of stocks one individual earnings move won't swing it near as much as trading the individual stock

won't ETF's still be impacted by earnings - maybe not as much as individual stock risk but - but a tech ETF will still move in relation to earnings on AAPL, MSFT, META, GOOGL, etc.  they all tend to release earnings around the same time. i would think biotechs, consumer goods, etc would be the same

Crowbar is an already rising co. on the start bottom of a possible S curve hitting a 12 month high and a 52 week high

Dif between JL and Crowbar:  JL= New company recently making a high and then got beating down to an all time low (52 wk).  Idea is to take advantage of recovery
