Great minds.
Craig Edwards

I watched Turner step into the batters box, then I saw Rendon with the ball. Looks like he was out.
Ben Clemens
9:38
The prestige.
Dystopian Future
9:39
Yeah, it looks like the choppiness in the video is producer-side, not consumer-side. I had the same random blackout on the same lineout in the same way.
Ben Clemens
9:39
I'm really not looking forward to a Cody Bellinger can't play in the playoffs narrative if he looks bad this series, but I'm pretty sure it will happen.
Trent
9:40
Will we as baseball fans be disappointed or encouraged to see how the NLDS ratings compare to the NFL tonight?
Ben Clemens
9:40
People who don't see the Dodgers play that often probably still think of him as notably lost on breaking balls still, even though he's completely turned that around.
RandyMarsh
9:41
Don't worry Ben we already have "postseason kershaw" memes no matter how bad bellinger is that narrative will be 2nd fiddle to Kershaw
Craig Edwards
9:41
I wouldn't worry too much about it. The NFL is going to get better ratings. That's just the way things are and the way tv watching is currently set up.
Mo money, Molina
9:41
Corbin no-no still alive!
Craig Edwards
9:41
Sure is.
RandyMarsh
9:42
Also Bellinger was really focused in APril/May, but slowly began to strike out a lot more w/ the slider down & outside.

The backfoot breaking ball from RHP was his kryptonite, and he fixed it but I noticed that pitchers began to attack him low & outside instead
Ben Clemens
9:42
Some analyst wrote about this:
Probably some hack, though :)
9:43
In all honesty, with a swing like Bellinger's, there will probably always be some cat and mouse. Hard to cover literally everything with a swing that long.
Craig Edwards
9:43
that was a really long time ago. Who knows if it still holds true.
Ben Clemens
9:44
prescient, though: "our final and only real potential area to get Bellinger out is low and away."
Wireless Joe Jackson
9:44
Seems like we're all watching on streaming services.  Does that even get counted in ratings?
Craig Edwards
9:44
I think it counts.
RandyMarsh
9:45
with the juiced ball every fly ball I do a double take lmao
John
9:45
There also has to be some mental adjustment we make when comparing nielson ratings (an outdated system already) because the NFL is on broadcast tv and the Dodgers nats is on cable, driving people to things like sling, mlb.tv, internet streams that ratings dont account for
Ben Clemens
9:45
The combination of the ball and the camera angle they're using in some of these games makes me think every single ball in the air is gone.
Craig Edwards
9:46
Ratings don't matter as much to the people in charge when games are on cable. They care about subscriptions.
John
9:46
Edit: Nielsen does count youtube tv and hulu live

How deep do you guys think buehler will go if it stays a 1 run game?  Do we see may/maeda/urias in the 7th?
Ben Clemens
9:47
Eaton trying to get to first before there was a call either way just in case.
He went full Brandon Nimmo there.
Craig Edwards
9:48
Depends on how he looks. If he's at 90 pitches through 6, that means he's been efficient and he probably goes to the seventh if his spot in the order wasn't up. If his pitch count keeps creeping up, we'll see that pen.
Matt Damon
9:49
Buehler at 59 pitches in 3.1 IP
Craig Edwards
9:49
yeah, he's throwing a lot.
Matt Damon
9:49
Corbin at 58 pitches in 3 IP
Craig Edwards
9:49
also a lot.
Ben Clemens
9:50
I do love that we had a low-strikeout starter game first, and then a high-strikeout nightcap
Baseball, then and now.
RandyMarsh
9:51
He tinkered w/ his delivery his last start of the season, and was wild then too.

Said he saw the film of his game 163 and saw some things that were different but I think the new delivery is messing his command of his breaking ball a bit
Ben Clemens
9:51
Look, I'm no pitching scientist.
Craig Edwards
9:51
so was he running on the 3-2 count. The broadcast wondered and then said nothing.
Ben Clemens
9:51
But I'd be terrified to tinker with my delivery this late in the year.
Adam2
9:52
Is Soto weird?
