TBS already going to previewing the 2nd game..

Please stick around. Please.

I'm sorry but that's stupid. Why should the Cards have home field advantage over a team that won two more games? Because they were in the same division as a 97-win team they get punished for it? Ridiculous
Craig Edwards
6:10
Maybe they are just being punished for playing the Marlins so many times.
Dystopian Future

No homers in this game. If you told me a team scored 11 runs in two innings in 2019 without any homers I'd be flabbergasted.
Craig Edwards
6:10
Interesting.

I really would prefer the Cardinals not play the Dodgers, but I also would love to see a Flaherty/Buehler matchup. We've seen a few of those over the past few years already.

Jay with the awesome tweet- At first Atlanta’s pitching plan was Folty and now it’s just Fried.

do you think this type of loss might cost snitker j=his job?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
6:12
if snit gets fired, it's not because of this game

Kiley- I have a prospect question! If there were no hard caps, do you think Jasson Dominguez would have signed a bigger bonus (not saying whether he's *worth* the bigger bonus but whether a team would have given it to him)?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
6:13
yeah, at least a few million more
he's worth a lot more than that, but there is a level of recruiting in the J2 market, where kids tend to like having a locked-in number a year in advance and family will turn down bigger offers even when they come
this happened with Maitan and other similar guys in the old system
CB
6:14
At what point does Snitker throw in the towel?  Put in bench players, pitch the guys in the back of the BP, etc.?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
6:14
he won't and he shouldn't. this lineup can score 10 runs, it's just unlikely
Kiermaier's Piercing Green Eyes
6:14
My partner's family got the slow close cabinets and was so excited about them. They were all, "Check these out, Kiermaier's Piercing Green Eyes! You can't slam them!"
6:15
You can slam them and they called me a jerk.

The Braves didn't lose this series today.  They lost it in game 4 when they squandered so many chances to score runs late in that game and failed.  That should be the one they remember all winter, not this one.
AvatarKiley McDaniel
6:15
yeah, if you're really mad, you can slam them and it just lessens the noise. i may have tested this
Craig Edwards
6:15
It's been an even series. This game wouldn't have happened if the Cardinals hadn't done the same thing as the Braves in Game 3.

Is the manager totally insulated from the front office during a game? Can a ball boy be sent down from Mozeliak with a note saying "yank Flaherty now!"?
Craig Edwards
6:15
Whichever team lost this series was going to look back and see a ton of missed opportunities.
AvatarKiley McDaniel
6:16
typically there's someone, like a trainer, that has a cell phone and is the guy you can relay messages without having to physically enter the clubhouse
can't have the phone in the dugout, but trainer may have to call outside person for something so they have one
Russ
6:18
What's this talk about Snit being fired? Is that really a thing?
AvatarKiley McDaniel
6:18
I don't think so. I was just saying this game isn't a data point for that case
Craig Edwards
6:18
The only team to ever score more than 12 runs in a playoff game and lose were the 93 Phillies, who lost 15-14 to the Blue Jays. Phillies were up 14-9 going into the eighth.
6:19
The Edman cycle train just lost some steam.
6:21
The Braves still had a 2% WE after the Cardinals' first inning. It's down to 1% now.
Dystopian Future
6:21
Wasn't there a Marlins Indians '97 WS game that had both teams over 10 runs?
Craig Edwards
6:22
Yes. Marlins won 14-11. The game was 7-7 going into the ninth inning. Marlins scored 7 and Cleveland could only answer with 4.
Fire Ken Tremendous
6:22
Is the Edman cycle like a Peloton bike?
Craig Edwards
6:22
No. Edman is pretty inexpensive.
6:23
I think you could argue that Flaherty shouldn't be batting just to avoid injury.

6:23
Does Acuna end up being this year's version of Machado where we spend so much time obsessing about his attitude and work ethic this offseason?
Craig Edwards
6:23
I know I won't be.

In Game 4 of the 1929 World Series, the A's trailed the Cubs 8-0 heading to the bottom of the seventh before scoring 10 runs in the inning to win 10-8.

Assuming he isn't pulled really soon, Flaherty pitches games 3 and 7 of NLCS rather than games 1 and 5, right?  Not sure there's much tactical difference.
Craig Edwards
6:25
Except game 5 is much more likely to happen.
