to clarify, you don't see lockheed/raytheon/northrop grumman, etc running regular commercials like you might see for say, tires or insurance. defense contractors don't really market in that way since the "customer" is the US government. i agree with the general sentiment here, it's just not a regular practice.

I don't think I've seen a new signee come into a major market with high expectations with a bigger pile of goodwill to burn than Mookie.  I think everyone is genuinely so pleased with him that he could go hitless in the World Series and people would still love him.
