Is Kershaw mostly unlucky or is he somewhat of a weak performer in the playoffs?
AvatarAriel Cohen

Kershaw career ERA in the regular season is 2.43. Playoffs is 4.31.

WHIP though ... 1.09 in postseason, 1.00 regular season.
FIP is a lot closer: 2.75 regular, 3.81 postseason.

How impressive has Pache looked?  Safe to assume he starts in Atlanta to begin 2021?

I think so. Think he's looked great. Just getting the bat to the ball right now, it's not sexy but it's been working. I bet he hits 18 bombs a year once he's seen this pitching for longer.

ERA isn't everything.  Game 1 of the 2018 WS is a great example.  David Freese dropped a pretty easy foul ball pop up and that cost him 2 runs I believe.

xFIP a lot closer. 2.98 regular, 3.42 postseason.
8:54
He has been better in the regular season, any way that you slice it. The disparity is problably less than people think.
Winning a world series, and pitching well in the fall classic would also change people's perception.

FWIW: Gonsolin learned his split-change from Joel Peralta. Dodgers front office guy Brandon Gomes suggested he talk to Peralta about the pitch.

Kershaw's playoff performance woes are due to the manager leaving him on too damn long -- most damage to his results occur in inning 6 +
AvatarAriel Cohen

Kershaw tends to have a high average innings pitched per start for the regular season.

Braves OF next year...Pache, Acuña, and...?

Kershaw has averaged 6.6 innings per regular season start roughly.  6.3 in the postseason.

So what do we think of this no off-day structure? I like how things are more condensed and the expanded rosters combine well with it, but can see why some would prefer the starter-heavy aesthetics.
AvatarAriel Cohen

I enjoy seeing more of a traditional starting pitcher usage in the playoffs.

This format greatly helps the Rays ...

I'm for whatever includes fewer pitching changes. I think you can do a 27-man roster for which 25 are active each game, or something like that, and afford the teams more pitchers, effectively, but not at the expense of us watching all of them parade for four hours.
That's why I really dig the way pitchers were deployed this year. I like seeing longer chunks of more dudes rather than LOOGY inclusion

Which caused more pitching changes - bigger roster or fewer off-days?

Re: Brandon Gomes and Joel Peralta, the mid 10s Rays could play a hand in beating the 20 Rays in the World Series

I'm not saying we had too many this postseason, I just want it to be what's in mind when they decide the structure

Put me in the camp that much prefers this no days off format.

I'm surprised though the playoffs started on Mondays, and had fewer weekends included. I think that was a small mistake by MLB, given that we haven't had any post-season COVID hiccups.

These are all just personal aesthetic preferences.

Joc Pederson up ... 92.9 avg exit velocity this season.  Very similar statcast metrics to teammate Seager.
