In Meghalaya Mukul Sangma of the Trinamool Congress leads in Songsak over Nihim D Shira of NPP.

The first official result for the day from Nagaland has been declared in which the BJP’s candidate P. Bashangmongba Chang has been declared winner from the Tuensang Sadar-1 constituency. After the counting of19,148 votes in the constituency, Chang received 63.3% of the votes. The NCP’s Toyang Chang has come in second with 35.03% votes. This takes the BJP’s tally up to 2 wins already since Kazheto Kinimi is the unopposed winner from Akuluto constituency.

BJP candidate and education minister of outgoing cabinet Ratan Lal Nath wins from Mohanpur constituency in Tripura, defeating his nearest rival of TIPRA, Motha Tapas Dey by a margin of 7347 votes after the final round of counting. While Nath obtained 19128 votes, Dey got 11,781 votes, and Congress nominee Prasanta Sen Chowdhury secured 10,301 votes.

It is evident that NDPP-BJP is heading towards a big victory in 'opposition-less' Nagaland.
Having won 22 seats in Tripura, the BJP sees no opposition in the state with the nearest TMP having won just 9. The BJP continues to lead in 11 seats while TMP has a lead of just 3.

The counting has not yet ended however the results seem obvious. It looks as though the BJP will have a landslide victory in Tripura and the party's alliance with NDPP in Nagaland is very likely to ensure a majority in the state as well. In Meghalaya however the results seem more muddled with NPP taking the lead and the BJP lagging far behind the other parties in the state.
