Is it too early to worry about Rich Rod? I would say no since it's early, but his velocity has seemed down in his first two appearances
nubyjas wilborn
1:23
He'll be good.

We going to see more Melky or Reyes in RF until Chisenhall ready?
nubyjas wilborn
1:24
yes and JB Shuck

Looking ahead( It might be a bright spot) should the Pirates draft a position player or pitcher in the June draft? GaTech has a catcher who could be a high choice, at least I'm thinking that's right. Might turn out better than the ill fated Sanchez choice. Of course with the Pirates development team, he'd likely get stifled.

You still have Elias Diaz. It'll be okay.

Any update on Polanco. And for what it is worth I think your an excellent writer.

Todd told us he was making steady progress they still haven't set a timetable. And thank you, CJ

anyone on this team worth extending? Tallion for example seems to want to be here,  but he’s almost to arb and got a hefty signing bonus. Based off previous contracts, Pirates seem to only do deals they “win”, not  fair deals.
nubyjas wilborn
1:27
Jamo would be the priority.

Just wait til you see the Bucs win a little. People completely change their attitude once they're playing well.

You're the new guy. Hang in there.

Bro, I love this gig! I'm truly blessed to get paid to write about ball. If the hardest part of my day is a few meanies in a chat I'm doing good

Was anybody on the team a Nipsey fan? Any candidates for changing their walk up song to Nipsey?
nubyjas wilborn

Keone Kela. Archer, Bell,

Can you see the Pirates locking up Dickerson? Or would they hold off due to other outfielders in the system (Martin, Reynolds, etc.)?
nubyjas wilborn
1:35
I'd hope so. Dickerson is a solid hitter, good glove, and a guy that teammates love.

What have you seen with Bell?  We heard about his offseason work, his focus on going the other way, etc..  His measurable spring training results were not overly positive  but I believe there was a reference or two that he was making good contact and driving the ball.  What have you noticed?
nubyjas wilborn
1:36
He is making good contact. He's hitting it where he wants it to go. Most importantly he's not tinkering with his approach.

Have you heard any talk from the team about extending Jameson Taillon? As you say, that should be a top priority. And any word on extending Trevor Williams? He doesn’t get enough credit outside Pittsburgh.
nubyjas wilborn
1:37
They've been quiet. Doesn't mean talks aren't happening.

Any chance we can get an article along those lines?

Who are this teams true clubhouse leaders?  How do the match up with others you covered with the Braves?
nubyjas wilborn

the starting pitchers, Vazquez, Dickerson

This isn't a Pirates question, it's more of a baseball question.  I love interleague play, I hope it never goes away.  I grew up when the AL and NL never faced each other outside of the World Series.  I would have loved to have seen a Pirates-Indians rivalry develop.  Some would prefer to see interleague play go away.  Your views?
nubyjas wilborn
1:49
I'm in my mid 30's. I grew up with NL and AL umpires and rules. I remember the uproar when they came with universal umpires. But I got over it. Same with Interleague play. It'd be fun for Indians v Pirates to come to a rivalry especially with Tito as Indians skipper. Imagine all the stories

Could we see Hayes up in September getting legit playing time, not just expanded roster sitting on the bench stuff, if he kills it at AAA?
nubyjas wilborn
1:49
absolutely

Is that guy "Greg" that opened the questions joking with you or is he just an idiot?
nubyjas wilborn
1:50
the latter, bless his heart.
Jamo
1:51
Do you think the Pirates would ever move Bell back to his natural position in the outfield?
nubyjas wilborn
1:51
don't u have a start today? lol. I haven't heard any talk of it.

The DH in the NL is inevitable, isn't it?
nubyjas wilborn
1:51
seems so
Jon

Hayes, Tucker, Keller all contributors in 2019?
nubyjas wilborn
1:52
yes
PhillyJake

I'd have thought Bell's natural position was DH!  :-)
