Brault's somebody I don't have a whole lot of faith in but he looked great last night. Can't draw real conclusions from two innings, but were there any noticeable changes in his approach?

His slider was working and he was able to throw the fastball for strikes. He seemed more confident as well.

It seems to me that the Bucs have been subject to a lot of bad calls on pitches outside the strike zone in big situations lately.  It seems to me that Clint used to be a bit more vocal about that, and it seems that a manager can influence an umpire that way.  Just watch Earl Weaver in the 70's.  Does Hurdle ever discuss balls and stike calls in those situations?

There are some unique strike zones. Hurdle like most mamagers are being more careful in how they publicly address it, but I'm sure there are talks behind the scenes

Who wins a foot race between JHK and Colin Moran?  Or do they both lose?
nubyjas wilborn
1:00
Yikes, neither of them are fleet of foot. I'd say Moran, but it wouldn't be fun to watch either way.

The main Pirates problem besides payroll is that they don’t know how to draft .
nubyjas wilborn
1:01
Not a question. ;)

Do you think the pirates will keep Tucker up for the rest of the season. I think they should.
nubyjas wilborn
1:01
If he keeps playing well, he'll make it hard. Tucker is getting some valuable experience.

Why not Stallings?  (I'm assuming Burdi is going on the 60 dal IL, either Feliz or Brault will be sent down to open a spot)
Do you grunt when you write a really difficult paragraph?
nubyjas wilborn
1:02
I prefer a chest pound or a subtle point to the sky.
1:03
As of now, we aren't sure what will happen with Burdi.
Okay, boys and girls, let's get the questions going
Seth

With Moran not really playing against lefties and getting starts at multiple positions, and Kang struggling mightily, any indication Hayes will be recalled sooner rather than later?
nubyjas wilborn
1:09
I haven't heard any and I've asked.

Scouts expressed concern over Reynolds's ground ball tendencies in the minors. Seems like in his short Indianapolis stint and his debut in the Show he's been getting the thing in the air a good amount - any word on how he addressed this, or what coaches were involved?
nubyjas wilborn
1:16
As players develop they tend to learn. Reynolds credited work with Rick Eckstein and Jacob Cruz this spring. He's more patient and not swing over balls.

Also I've very much enjoyed your work since you've started covering the team, and you are a great follow on twitter for more than just baseball coverage!
nubyjas wilborn

Why thank you, Seth! I really appreciate that.

If payroll won't go up until attendance goes up, what happens if it just never rebounds until they start to spend? Are they going to be trapped in the 75-80 million dollar range for years to come?
nubyjas wilborn
1:18
Good question and I don't know the answer, The old saying is you got to spend money to make money. The true test for the Pirates will come this off-season when players such as Taillon, Musgrove, Trevor Williams, and Bell are arb eligible. Frank Coonelly said payroll will change, We'll see how the team handles it.

Who is the real leader in the clubhouse?
nubyjas wilborn

There are several. Guys like Archer, Vazquez, & Jamo

How much longer do the Pirates carry Kang on the roster since he isn't hitting?
nubyjas wilborn
1:20
good question, I'd say as long as Moran doesn't field well.
Dan
1:20
Will Cervelli go on the IL?
nubyjas wilborn
1:20
If we knew, you wouldn't have to ask,
1:21
I don't mean that in a snarky way, But seriously if Cervelli or any starter was going on the IL it'd be heavily reported.

Do people within the organization believe Bryan Reynolds can be an average major league starter? Are they confident with him being a starting OF next year if Dickerson is no longer around?
nubyjas wilborn
1:22
A catcher, Had a solid spring, calls a good game and can throw out runners.
Mike
1:22
With Cervelli on the decline and the pirates having no catching prospects would it make sense to possibly give cervelli a one year offer for 3 million since Diaz didn’t have a spring training either to start next season? Also where do you see them headed in the draft this year?
nubyjas wilborn
1:26
Even if they drafted a catcher he'd be several years away. Nearly every team in baseball is having issues developing catchers. Diaz not having a spring wouldn't impact their decision making for next season.
Dougie
1:26
Any update on Cervelli?
nubyjas wilborn
1:26
come on, Dougie! When we know, you'll know
Triple H

With Dickerson potentially hurt and the way Reynolds is playing could we see a Polanco trade and maybe Dickerson traded as well?
nubyjas wilborn
1:27
Reynolds has played 8 big league games and had an injury of his own, The games have been good, but let's slow down a tad.
Seth
1:27
Instead of making a free agent splash, the Pirates should debut new uniform schemes and a retro logo next year. It seems to be working for Pitt. Or just get people talking and come up with some crazy flashy futuristic design. Thoughts?
