Brand Nubyjas! Wonderful Chit Chats my friend. Will Mr.Nutting lift the Cap on payroll and Let GMNH acquire help for the battlin' buccs?  Laughable i know.
nubyjas wilborn
12:14
Ha, he might lift it a bit since the club is forcing his hand.
12:15
Hello everyone. Had some wifi issues but I'm here.
Joe
12:15
Will the pirates buy at deadline? What is your sense? Are they going to be scared because of archer deal not really working out?
nubyjas wilborn
12:16
To me they owe it to the roster to give help. I'm not certain they will. I think they will stand pat.
Tim B
12:16
Which Pirate do you think will show the most improvement in the second half and who will regress the most?
nubyjas wilborn
12:18
The Pirates hope Archer. Regression is relative but it'll be hard for Reynolds to stay at his pace.

12:19
Remember when the pirates 5 starters were all pitching lights out, but they couldn't score a run to save their lives? Talk about midseason shift...
nubyjas wilborn
12:19
Life is funny that way...
Jake in DC
12:20
Walk us back from the edge on Archer. Is there actually any hope he can return to form and become the ace this club so desperately needs?
nubyjas wilborn
12:20
I think he'll be better. I really do.
Jake in DC
12:20
With our Infield playing so well (except for maybe Frazier who's been...ok), do you see a traffic jam approaching considering 3 of our top 5 prospects are infielders. Not to mention Will Craig. How do the Pirates navigate this?
nubyjas wilborn
12:21
Gotta get creative. It's tough but it's a good problem to have when you have a lot of good players.
Jake in DC
12:21
I worry that we are going to stand pat at the deadline. I know it might be the position that makes sense, but I fear that will just doom us to a mediocre season. Mediocrity, in my opinion, is pointless. Either buy now, hope we make it into the playoffs and go for broke, or sell and set up for next year. Middling the road doesn't do anyone any good. Am I way off with that analysis?
nubyjas wilborn
12:23
Your fears might be accurate. I'd like to see the Pirates go for it. But remember they did last year with Archer and Kela...

Please tell me that Bucs ownership isn't dumb enough to expose Stallings to waivers in order to find a roster spot for Cervelli.  Clearly Cervelli is done as a catcher and they don't need a .170 hitting back up 1st baseman.  Esp. with how Osuna is hitting.  Time to DFA Cervelli?
nubyjas wilborn
12:26
IDK if I'd call them dumb. However, I'd be surprised if Stallings clears waivers again. I'm not sure if or when Cervelli will make it back to the roster. It's a tough situation.

Gator, the Pirates might possibly win the division title. But, they got swept by the Dodgers and seem to have little chance of making the Series. What would you do? Make a couple of moves to go for the division title, or stand pat and let things play out?
nubyjas wilborn
12:29
I'd make moves. But it isn't my money or prospects.
John
12:29
Now that the team has made a move these last few series and have a head of steam going into the 2nd half of the season....do you see the Pirates making a move to get starting pitching help for the second half?
nubyjas wilborn
12:30
It's going to be tough because every contender needs pitching. Are you willing to give up, let's say Keller & Ke'Bryan Hayes
Gene
12:30
What happens with the OF when Polanco comes off the IL?  I really believe Reynolds needs to play every day
nubyjas wilborn
12:32
They'll have to get creative again. Polanco won't play everyday initially and Reynolds can move around
Rick in Orlando
12:33
Can the return of both Polanco  actually hurt the Pirates by taking ab's from Cabrera, Dickerson and Reynolds? I know his trade value is next to nothing so they can't trade him at this point.
nubyjas wilborn
12:33
I don't think so. If they handle it well, which they can. There's nothing wrong with having more good players.
John
12:33
With an over abundance of outfielders, who do you feel will get the Pirates the best bang for their BUCs in a possible trade and not interrupt the clubhouse dynamic that they seem to have going....Polanco or Dickerson?  I would add Cabrera, but I just don't feel like there's much return to be had there and he has become a fun leader in the dugout and a valuable player off the bench.
nubyjas wilborn
12:34
Dickerson is on an expiring contract and we don't know what Polanco will look like yet. So I'd say not much difference. You want to keep Melky
SalemPirate
12:35
How's my man Gator doing? Pirates have a 4 man bench and Polanco comes back soon. Unless a BP arm is sent to AAA something's got to give. What's ahead?
nubyjas wilborn
12:35
Good question. The Pirates have some tough decisions to make.
SalemPirate
12:35
The Pirates are probably in better position to win the division than a wild card berth, impossible as it seems. They need a SP if they are to make the playoffs. Should they pursue a Stroman-like starter (more than just a rental) or a MadBum-type rental?
nubyjas wilborn
12:37
The math shows that Central will likely only have one playoff slot. I think they should look into Stroman.
Rick in Orlando
12:37
Are there any starting pitchers in either league that would be available at the deadline because their teams are out of the race that are worth taking a chance on and trading for? Although it looks like the Marlins and the Giants are the only National League teams that would be sellers, the American League has at least 6 teams that are already done for the year and may be willing to part with some starting pitching.
nubyjas wilborn
12:38
Stroman would be a great option.
Greg
12:38
I do not believe that upper management cares at all about winning. I think they will trade away Marte or Dickerson and get nothing. What do you think?
nubyjas wilborn
12:38
I don't believe that at all.
B.0.B
12:40
Nubyjas- What do you think about moving Tucker, Ke'Bryan or Kramer for some pitching?
nubyjas wilborn
12:41
They may have to. Question is how will fans take it if those guys do well and the pitcher doesn't do as well?
Retire21
12:41
Jung Ho Kang gone when they recall the rehab ss!
nubyjas wilborn
12:41
I'm not sure. But he's gotta figure it out fast.
SalemPirate
12:42
Is Tucker going to have to wait for a Sept call up? Will he be the Pirates SS forcing Newman to another position? What about EGon and the table pounders or Kang? Not room for all of them.
