When he's healthy he's a great reliever. There is some discord between him and team as evidenced by the suspension. They may need each other so they'll have to work it out.

What is going on with Colin Moran?  He looks like is having such a problem picking up spin and is looking over matched since the break?  After a solid first half it seems like he is coming down to earth.

12:32
He's struggling but is working through it. Slumps happen.
Marte, S

Can I be put on IR for continual cranial lapsation? Refusing a free base out of what, baseball morality, had to be the dumbest thing I’ve done in a career of dumb happenings.

That would also discredit your .281/.323./.492 slash line with 17 homers this season. Don't forget your 13 stolen bases compared to 3 times getting caught. The 20 doubles, 4 triples, and 56 RBIs are also solid. You're having a great season and your teammates love you. Don't focus on the small stuff :)

Ken Rosenthal has the Braves in on Vazquez.  I don't get the fetish of wanting to trade Vazquez.
nubyjas wilborn
12:40
I don't either, but depends on what you get.

Taillon with his elbow:  Future closer ?

12:40
idk about that

2020 Opening Day starting rotation consists of ..

12:41
Taillon, Williams, Musgrove, Archer, and Agrazal...
Aaron
12:41
Lux, Smith, and May are realistic for Vazquez, right?
nubyjas wilborn
12:41
depends on how bad the Dodgers want him.
Archer, C

Man, thanks for the strange support! If you like my ERA, what are your thoughts on 3 wins? Or is that too an overrated stat? Love this chat!!!

Don't you have some books to read or something? Or maybe coming with the latest warmup song? But, the season hasn't been what you or the team wanted, but you're showing signs of growth.

What's your take on Friedman and pushing the Dodgers over the top? I know you said you'd keep Vazquez, but if Friedman is desperate enough, the talent could really impact us, and in the short-term too. Do you think he'd be willing to move Lux ++ to get the piece they need, in a trade that would likely receive widespread praise?

Lux seems like he's the kind of special prospect that teams don't trade. But the Dodgers have Bellinger, a pile of money to supplement their "need" at 2B, and back-to-back WS losses, in a scenario where a Braves team is only going to keep getting better, etc.

If we could pry Lux + Smith (+), it would allow us to focus completely on revamping the pitching in the offseason, giving us sorely needed power potential in key spots as well. Apologies for my wordiness, I'll hang up and listen.

If the Pirates get that type of offer they'd have to strongly consider.

Are other teams actually asking about The Notorious JHK?
nubyjas wilborn
12:45
why would they?
Brandon
12:45
Do you think the bullpen is fine without Vazquez but with Burdi and Santana. If Vazquez is traded.
nubyjas wilborn
12:47
How do you know if either will be healthy?

12:47
Re next year rotation - No Kuhl?  No Keller ?
nubyjas wilborn
12:48
I like Dario. I know he doesn't have great "stuff" but he does have heart and conviction. He isn't afraid to throw strikes.

There’s no way NH turns down an offer involving Lux right?
nubyjas wilborn
12:48
depends on other offers.

I said this a few weeks ago, but I want to again register a shot over the bow vs. all of the complete morons who concentrate on Marte taking an occasional jog to first base so that he doesn't pull a hamstring on a routine out: Marte is an elite center fielder and the Pirates are amazingly lucky to have him. He routinely makes above average catches in the outfield look like clockwork, and is just a five tool difference maker.

It strikes me that we're in a pretty similar situation with him as Kansas City was with Lorenzo Cain. He's so important to the team that we will just play out his contract and try to win with him in center. Nobody is going to replace the impact he makes in all the different facets of the game.

No question, just a heartfelt thank you from reasonable fans who know real, consistent impact when they see it.

I agree with you. The man is special.

Pirates will be sellers and pitching is always the thing in most demand. Assume a key piece like.Doesn’t that make Lyles the most likely to moved since he could bring the best return vs Dickerson, etc.
nubyjas wilborn
12:57
teams are thirsty for pitching. Lyles could get teams to overpay.

Any word on Chisenhall? Are we assuming that he’s done for the year?
nubyjas wilborn
12:58
I don't expect to see him in a Pirates uniform this year. He's rehabbing back in North Carolina. We haven't seen him with the team in two months.

One more, if there's enough time: would you consider moving a guy like Moran, Osuna, or Frazier to an AL team in exchange for some controllable pitching. The Rays could be a good fit for Moran, since they need production at 3B and DH.

In short, I think there's a way for NH to thread the needle and buy some controllable pitching, holding out for the potential LAD blockbuster with FV, and have a revamped core for 2020. I don't know that those guys would get huge returns, but maybe a couple of solid, dependable types, and it would clear some room to see what we have with Tucker and Hayes in the last six weeks of the season.

Moran and Frazier especially seem like nice enough players, but we need more impact at those positions.

I would consider those options because infield is an area where the team has some depth.
Thank you for joining me today! I enjoyed all of the questions. God Bless and Goodnight.
