Any idea what park effects are like for the Buffalo stadium vs. Rogers?  Think I read the fences are closer which probably = more HR, but they're also not playing on that horrendous turf which probably helps pitchers / defense right?

Hi everybody! Love that we get to have Boog for the early game today.

Took a day off work, have beer and pizza and my favorite team is playing baseball, by 2020 standards its a 80grade day.

I think probably once a week about how Bud Selig has a hot dog and a Diet Coke for lunch every day

I'm not positive, but it is roughly average for the International League, probably slightly below for Triple-A when you include all the PCL stadiums. It should play pretty well for homers, but less ground to cover for outfielders. The BABIP is pretty low per BA.

What should the Braves do with Acuna now that they've traded for Schebler?
Craig Edwards
4:05
in this chat, yes.
Tony Wolfe
4:05
probably trade him to the dodgers

over/under on ESPN missing 1.5 pitches returning late from commercial this game?
Craig Edwards

It will be interesting to see how Soroka does this season. His traditional stats outpaced his peripherals, but he's also very young so he might improve and still have worse numbers than a season ago.

Lied to my friends and said I had to work late lets go

this bud light commercial really weirds me out. Just the complete wrong vibe.
4:09
As for deGrom, he's great, but check out his 12-game rolling numbers. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jacob-degrom/10954/graphs?statArr=6,...
4:10
He's one of the best if not the best pitcher in baseball, and last season for a 12-game stretch, he had an ERA and FIP near four.

ICYMI, both of the early chatters wrote stuff that went up at the site today. Here's Craig on expanded playoffs (https://blogs.fangraphs.com/expanded-playoffs-always-made-sense-for-20...) and me, well, being a bummer (https://blogs.fangraphs.com/i-really-hope-this-all-works/)

Annibal Sanchez to the Chicago White Sox for Aaron Bummer and Micker Adolfo.....who says no? Trade gives the White Sox a solid starter at a decent price for this year and next. Gives the Nats a much needed controllable bullpen arm and a possible replacement for Eaton in a year or two.
Angels need starting pitching. Nats need a bat and can trade from excess. So.....who says no.....David Fletcher to Nats for Annibal Sanchez?
Craig Edwards
4:11
I don't see those teams giving up a lot for Anibal Sanchez.
Tony Wolfe

anibal sanchez is 36

Yeah was thinking the same thing about hte Bud Light commercial... It's pretty bad
Not a Bud Light Executive
4:11
Craig you're just weirded out because you don't have a delicious, clean, crisp bud light in your hand as you're watching America's pastime!
Craig Edwards
4:12
I might have to crack a beer later, but that commercial doesn't make me want it be a Bud Light, though I don't have any in my house right now anyway.
Baseball is happening.
100 mph according to the broadcast.

Any chance the Hawkeye gun is a little hot? Or are we just seeing Opening Day adrenaline from Scherzer and deGrom?
Tony Wolfe
4:13
People have mentioned hawkeye having a few issues last night, but I'm not really shocked by those two running it up there around 100
Craig Edwards
4:14
I think deGrom might just be amped.
Derek
4:14
Holy moly it is good to have baseball back
Pat
4:14
Do the Braves have the best 1-2-3 in baseball? Acuna, Ozzie, and Freeman are arguably top three at their position.
Craig Edwards
4:15
deGrom averaged 97 on his fastball and has hit 100 so this isn't out of the ordinary.

It's a hot one out today, folks so make sure you stay hydrated with America's number one selling light American-style pilsener, Bud Light! Bud Light, folks.
Craig Edwards
4:16
that is a commercial that would be more likely to reach me.
Tony Wolfe
4:16
I'd probably take the Astros' top three over the Braves
Derek
4:16
Dodgers 1-2-3 is pretty hard to beat. Betts + Bellinger is just such a huge head start
Craig Edwards
4:17
are we talking first three batters? or just three best hitters?
4:18
because Judge/Stanton/Gleyber is up there.
