3:15
He also says people adopt the technology for the sake of it but according to him to know about what people want to achieve with it is more important than reaching a wider audience.
3:19
According to him reaching a wider audience is more required to bring about change. He also says that " I'm restricting myself to India's context. Except for one or two platforms, nobody is doing anything."
3:22
3:23
He again says that most platforms are still stuck in the 18th century and they are not willing or daring to take new steps. According to him in this country, we have a unique potential and most of them are under 25, so new terms of journalism can be redefined in India.
3:25
He also says, " We just use URL on social media but we are copy-pasting things from print to social media while we need to understand what works on Twitter doesn't work on Facebook and what works on Facebook doesn't work on Twitter.
3:28
So according to him, people need to understand how it can be redefined. "We need to bring in young people in newsrooms," he adds.
3:33
Now the moderator concludes the conversation by saying the old folks are not able to adopt the new technology.
3:35
Moderator asks a question to the next speaker Dr. Marie Elisabeth Mueller that how we consciously use digital media for business in journalism.
3:36
Meet Dr. Marie Elisabeth Mueller, New Media Expert, Social Storyteller and Business Coach
3:37
The second speaker starts the conversation by saying that, "I have travelled India, I know the situation. If not us, it's about the users, everything has changed"
3:40
According to her, there is a change in the grammar in the communications news and now it is conversational. "In the 19th century, we were not afraid to use calculators, fax machines so why are we afraid to use new innovative tools?" She adds that our mindsets have to change. "We have to learn from trial and error. You can blame only those who are not open to change and we have to work with a mix of discipline with diverse people," she adds.
3:43
3:44
Answering the question of how to use technology in this situation she says that it is about better connection to reach the niche audience. She adds that half of the population in India does not access digital technology. So according to her people have to choose the technology to choose which people they want to give voice to.
3:47
Muller: "Use technology to improve the quality of news and it happens when user experience is improved. We should keep in mind all ages."
3:50
Moderator: "I think what you are talking about is absolutely spot on. In today's time and age, there are so many tools to pick. There is a lot of technology so talking about the subject of emerging technology. There is a number of merging technology, finance, active data, etc. So she asks a question that with a country like India with millions of social media users what kind of technology do people use for the next 5 years."
3:54
Responding to question's answer Rajaram says: "I would say that in India, we have the largest user base of Facebook users so the launching of the Metaverse is going to be a digital replica of the real world." He also adds that before 10-15 years nobody could have believed that you could do a live conclave like this online. 5G is going to change how we interact with each other. But in India, we jumped straight into the mobile phase where Metaverse technology is going to play a big part in India.
3:56
"You and I can't turn back the clock
so how can we improve our lives with this technology as  we never cared a damn about the users and our generation is to be blamed," he adds.

Now, the moderator says that one of the factors is to consider emerging technology in 5 years. "I truly believe many times newsrooms tried error and method technology so how open are people to evolve and adapt to the new technology. How Instagram and Facebook or the evolution of Metaverse will impact digital journalism?
4:03
Answering the question Muller says Metaverse is something very complex and it is about decentralization of data. And actually it is a recent ecosystem where Facebook and Instagram plays a decisive role.
4:07
She explains that of a large number of user base the decision by Europe news-makers to combine 60 newsrooms is brilliant. "It is also about data protection and privacy protection and we can't trust government and entertainment is not the evil," she explains. She also adds that people of Germany are agitated about entertainment in storytelling but it's a mix of user-needs.
4:10
Rajaram: "I would like to break it down to two parts, the first about regulation and the second how we can prepare our newsrooms for the future also how the government chooses to regulate is not transparent."
4:14
He also adds that in Europe, the government is a little more transparent, and in Europe, no one can get away with fake stories. But in India, there is no control over fake stories, access to the internet. So according to him, there should be a fundamental right.
4:15
He also says," Kerala probably has that but it should be a fundamental right."
4:19
Moderator: "I feel like a lot of people have a misconception and we are willing to learn technology. Now your newsroom is the age of transition, adopt the transition. Our mindset has to change." She asks: "Could you both share good and bad storytelling of digital journalism?"
4:23
Marie Elisabeth Mueller answering the question says that in India, a few years ago, the Kerala floods and news 18 came with a form of 'good news. According to her Caravan also puts deeply investigated story and CG Net is a wonderful example of solutions-oriented journalism.
4:25
4:27
Speaker Devadas Rajaram on sharing good and bad storytelling of digital journalism says, " Couple of quick examples of graphic novels if you use a drone to track prominent personalities but that has nothing to do with tools."
4:29
Now the moderator takes a question from the audience which is that where do we see our future going out within next 5 years.
4:32
Answering this question, Mueller says: "I wanted to highlight if I talk to a young student it is very important to help them make their own space on social media and it's very important to be transparent having a personal professional space."
