I don’t think fans realize how different it is to draft a QB now. When the Steelers drafted Ben, there was no rookie cap so teams were much more cautious about trading up.  The Steelers were lucky he was available at #11.  If you had the same circumstances now but had a rookie cap, they almost certainly would have had to trade up to #3 or #4 to get him.

Maybe but Pat Mahomes was the No. 10 pick his year. It all depends on who is available in a given year. There were two others - Rivers and Eli Manning - available when Ben was drafted so maybe he still falls to No. 11

A friend of mine from Pitt Medical School is the orthopedic surgeon for a MLB team and was also the orthopod for an NFL team for decades told me that in his opinion Ben will definitely regain the arm strength he had before his injury.

He is but lost in all of the Zion worship last night is this tiny fact — his team lost the game. And his Duke team didnt make the Final Four. And thats not to say he isnt a fantastic talent it is to say maybe win something before we start talking about how dominant he is.
