OK lets get started

Why do you think Jeff Capel has struggled to recruit at Pitt? Obviously, the recruiting territory has shifted with the move to the ACC. But there has to be more to it than that. The facilities are good, the academics are good, support from the university, he's had success as a head coach and as an assistant, and there is a fairly recent track record of success. It was a bad situation he walked into but I still feel there has to be more to the story.
Zeise

I don't believe he has struggled to recruit. He has brought in good players, he just hasn't been able to retain them. And that is a direct reflection on him and his ability to cultivate a good culture within the program.

Hello Paul.  Another QB rumor linked to the steelers.  Its driving me crazy!  Are we the steeler fans that gullible?
Zeise
1:01
It is amazing how many people seem to have sources with the Steelers, isn't it? I will be shocked if the Steelers have a guy with 22 accusations of sexual assault on his resume on their radar. It makes for good talk show fodder

Where does the Aaron Rodgers deal leave Jordan Love? He was supposed to be their future. Did they lose confidence in him? Will they keep him as a back up for another four years? Will they trade him and, sorry to bring this up but, will we hear people wanting the Steelers to go after him?
Zeise
1:02
Well if you lose the logic of people in this town - they stuck with their aging hall of famer because they don't trust their backup!! I would say they should trade Love while his value is high

Which local school, Robert Morris, Duquesne, Pitt, or Penn State will be the first to get into either the NCAA Tournament or the NIT?
Zeise
1:03
Oh good lord. I will say Pitt just because it is in the best conference and a winning season may be enough to get them into the NIT. But it could be a long time.

Paul, Lots of talk this week about Trubisky.  Is Jamesis Winston no longer of interest?
Zeise
1:03
If you listen to Gerry Dulac, he was never an option.

Paul, am I insane for believing that the Steelers are in the worst shape of any of the three pro teams in Pittsburgh? I don't think there is any question about the Penguins being in much better shape to contend for a championship than the other two. The Pirates, of course, aren't going to challenge for a title in the near future under their miserly owner, but at least the GM seems to know what he is going with the draft and is hopefully building a competitive team. The Steelers, aside from a couple of star defensive players and a good running back, don't have much talent and have steadily declined over the past decade under ARII and haven't drafted as well as the Pirates recently. They look like a .500 team at best for the next couple of years.
Zeise
1:03
They are not further away from winning than the Pirates. And they are really a solid quarterback away from being a playoff team
The Real TP Hunter
1:04
How can the Penguins look electric up and down the lineup in beating Tampa Bay last week and then get nothing from their bottom three lines at Carolina and against the Panthers? How can Malkin and Carter not consistently generate more supplemental scoring with their lines (when Carter centers)?
Zeise
1:06
They are aging stars, they are inconsistent role players, they have trouble getting secondary scoring - it all adds up to an inconsistent team
The Real TP Hunter

What is your priority in selecting a golf ball? Carry distance, or color that is easier to find in the deep rough?
Zeise
1:06
For me, because I am blind, it has to be the color - it has to be bright yellow
Mercury
1:06
How confident are you that the Penguins are contenders? Will they even make the playoffs?
Zeise
1:07
They are definitely going to make the playoffs. I don't think they have enough to get to the Final but I could see them getting to the Eastern Conference finals

Hey, Comrade Paul.  I have your famous, WNBA superstar as a guest in my beautiful Mother Russia.  With the ruble value destroyed, she will play another season for us, as you capitalist's say, on the cheap.  Tell your decadent American oligarchs to put some US hard-dollars in a hat, and maybe we'll put her on a flight to JFK.  What say you, Comrade?
Zeise

I feel bad for Brittany

Hi Paul,  If the Steelers go after Mitch T how much should they offer and for how many years?  Also for the other free agent QB.
Zeise
1:15
I wouldn't offer him more than maybe $5 million   a year for three years. I just wouldn't, it makes no sense to do so. I don't know how he all of the sudden became this great quarterback

1:15
Hi Paul, Hopefully someone else, NY Giants perhaps, grabs Trubisky, and Willis and Pickett are taken in the first five picks, so that all the QB noise and nonsense is silenced and the Steelers can concentrate on signing FA linemen and drafting younger lineman as well.  QB of the long term future may be available when the Steelers draft much higher next year.
Zeise
1:16
I agree, at this point go with Mason Rudolph and build the team around him
Once the team is better than worry about going and getting a quarterback

Paul, if no baseball was played this year, would it really matter?  I remember after the 1994 strike, when players retook the field, people bought tickets to throw monopoly money on the field and jeered the players.  But that was before the internet, when past times were still needed.  Today?  Netflix, gaming, and other activities easily distract consumers.  I think management and players effectively kill the sport if there is no baseball this year.
Zeise
1:17
They keep killing their own sport, they keep killing their own fan base and they keep killing any interest in casual and new fans. But they should keep arguing about the international draft because that's relevant. Or not.

Paul, my wife and I argue over Miracle Whip, my choice, and Hellman's, her choice.  A compromise is Duke's, but, alas, we end up buying Miracle Whip and Hellman's....  Is this good economics?
Zeise
1:18
Prices are too high these days aren't they for that? Get the compromise jar and save some cash, you will need it to pay for gas
Bernard

Chris Olave, tOSU WR, #20 to Steelers.  I just have a feeling.  What would you think about that pick given needs at WR but also needs on OL and DL?
Zeise
1:18
I would love the pick actually, I love speed
Bernard
1:20
Did Seattle fleece Denver?
Zeise
1:26
Not at all. Not at all. Denver got a legitimate Super Bowl-level quarterback and should have a chance to compete for the Super Bowl for at least four or five years. Who cares about the picks, there is no guarantee any of them will turn into good players
Jay

Hello again Paul.  The other paul wants Jordan love?  Why do fans think the steeler staff/front office can suddenly fix Trubisky/Winston/Love into the next franchise QB?  Why?
Zeise
1:27
It is amazing isn't it? Jordan Love has shown nothing. Miutch Trubisky threw about eight passes last year, Jameis Winston is a turnover machine coming off a major injury, but yes once they put the black and gold on they will become stars

Do you think there’s any merit about the Watson to Pittsburgh trade rumor or is this more of the same click bait like with Rodgers and Wilson? What would it take and why would the Steelers do that, stats and talent aside.
Zeise
1:27
I think the Watson camp is getting desperate and trying to generate a market for him

Hi Paul.  It has been said that Jason Capel is not well liked by players and the word is out in recruiting circles.  Do you know if there is truth to this report?
Zeise
1:28
I have not heard that but that doesn't mean it isn't true. When things are going bad there are always going to be fingers pointed and accusations. Winning cures a lot of that
