Can you explain something?  If the Steelers are at the cap cusp now then how can they legally even afford to draft and sign 7 or more  incoming players for more money beyond this amount?  I never understood it.

There is a pool of cap money set aside tor draft picks. And there is a relatively controlled amount of money your draft class will cost so it is easy to set aside

I don’t think his interview with Pitt had anything to do with it, I just think there was a group of influential people in administration and around the district wanted to get him and they got him. It’s such utter nonsense but that’s how it goes these days

With the way the transfer rules are now, basketball teams like Pitt don't have to recruit high school players. There are over 400 players on the transfer portal. Why groom players when most of them are are already groomed? Teams can retool in one year.

Even if they draft a CB in 1st or 2nd round, it's hard to see how this defense isn't going to be worse than it was last year, so if this team is going all in to win next year as they claim, it is even more important to significantly improve the offense, which to me means RB, OT, C,and TE upgrades.  Since none of that's happened via free agency so far, doesn't that mean this absolutely has to be all offense on days 1 and 2?

The issue with that is the defense and running game aren’t as good as they were early in his career. He needs to be a game manager who makes big plays when they are there to be made

I haven’t heard of any team interested in Villanueva. I haven’t heard of a visit or interview or anything. I’m assuming that means he could end up back with the Steelers at a bargain price
