No. I don't think you do. That's too much money for him and I wouldn't pay that much for a player who isn't among the top five at his position. You have some good young receivers, you need to keep developing them and draft another one next year if you need to.

Paul, love the chats.  Who’s your favorite underdog or long shot to make the Steelers roster?

Corliss Waitman, the punter from Southern Miss or wherever. I love undrafted punters that come in and win jobs!!

Bill Walsh used to say he learned from the Steelers of the early 80s that it was better to move on from legendary players a couple years too early than to try to hang on to them a couple years too long - hence developing Steve Young and then moving on from Montana even though he had a couple good years left.  Belichick has been notorious for doing the same.  Are the Steelers the proverbial team that forgot it's history and are doomed to repeat it by not bringing in a QB who has a realistic chance to be the next franchise QB now (and I'm still not buying that they truly believe Mason Malone or Duck Briefed are it).

I understand what the Steelers are doing. They think they still have two seasons with Ben Roethlisberger. I have already said many times - their best course of action would have been to not give Roethlisberger two more years. They should have found a "bridge" quarterback like, well, Teddy Bridgewater that they could have signed for almost nothing. And then they should have worked hard to find a quarterback of the future.

I like Tomlin, but if you are right and the Steelers finish out of the playoffs again with a healthy Ben, at what point does his job become in jeopardy?

The Steelers don't move on from coaches. I am convinced he could miss the playoffs for the next five years in a row and not be on the hot seat. It is just the way they do things. Tomlin is a good football coach and they know this so they aren't going to move on from him very easily.
Thanks for all the great questions and let's do it again next week!!!!
