Let’s get started!!!
Nate
12:00
Where do you see the pirates in 3 years? Have a young core and may have a superstar with Hayes. I like to think we could probably compete if the young pitchers develop.
Zeise
12:01
They will be young but the question is will they be good? They will have a lot of players coming out of their minor league system. But how well will they be developed?
Norman "Chuck" Zimmerman
12:01
The NY Knicks have been a good story this year.  How far do you think they can go in the NBA play-offs?
Zeise
12:03
There is probably a ceiling because they aren’t quite as talented as some of the other teams. However the East is a mess  and I’m not in love with any of those teams so the Knicks are as good as as anyone
Jimmie
12:03
Why would the Steelers spend a 4th and a 5th pick on Loudermilk?  Is he special or was it only to fill a need?
Zeise
12:06
I don’t know to be honest. I think he maybe fits a need and they think he is a really good player. I guess time will tell
Where is everyone at! Fire away questions!!!
12:08
The Penguins play tonight - will Malkin play? Does it change now that it is headed to New York?
Gregory Polanco is 8-of-24 is the light coming on?
12:10
Are the Steelers better????
Guest
12:10
Do you see the Steelers signing a free agent pass rusher and or cornerback before training camp?
Zeise
12:11
There is no question they need to sign a cornerback before camp or at the end of camp. They need at least one more player at that position and there will be plenty of low cost options out thete
12:12
Is Najee Harris a 1300-yard running back?
Guest
12:12
Do you think Malkin's return in game 3 will be a net positive, or could he be rusty enough to cost the Penguins a win?
Zeise
12:14
I think it will be a welcome addition but I don’t know if he will make a difference either way. I think he could be a little rusty but he won’t hurt the Pens. They need him to go deep into the playoffs
Harry
12:14
You talk about being an old fart. Are you an old enough fart to have seen Rennie Stennet play? He was so good and it's sad when these '70s Pirates die both because they're gone but also because it reminds me of a time when the team was so good for so long, something I'll likely never see again.
Zeise
12:15
I do remember him and I remember that era. The Pirates were one of the dominant teams of the 70s and now look at them
Tom G
12:23
If Vazquez is aquitted do the Pirates have to honor what remains of his contract?
Zeise
12:23
I don’t think so. I think it was already terminated.
Harry
12:24
I think Loudermilck is such a cool name that having it on your team might be worth a couple picks. On another note, after the Pirates let Gregory Polanco go next season, do you think he'll catch on with another MLB team or has he been just too big a bust? I'd guess he will on a very cheap contract or maybe even a minor league one.
Zeise
12:25
Pedro Alvarez found another home I’m sure Polanco will too. Someone will give him another shot. He may not be get paid a ton but someone will take him
KDub
12:25
Paul, I enjoy your work. Do you think this is the year Pitt football has a 9-10 win season? The non-conference schedule is not difficult and they get UNC and Miami at home. QB is back and while they've maybe not won as many games as I'd hope, Narduzzi seems to have brought stability to the program.
Zeise
12:25
I would be very disappointed if they didn’t win at least nine games given what they return and who they play. They should do really well against that schedule to be honest

If the Pirates brought back Andy Van Slyke today would he be able to hit or field better than some of the candidates the Pirates have paraded to the outfield?  Seriously, why can't the Pirates find a young unemployed outfielder who meets MLB thresholds for hitting and fielding?
Zeise
12:27
It has been amazing how bad the outfield candidates they have brought through have been. Yet Anthony Alford and Dustin Fowler are apparently doing well in the minors

Do you thing Capel will get any heat about Duke's recruitment of Zion and the bank statements that came out yesterday?
Zeise
12:28
Only if there is some direct tie between him and the payments, which I have not seen produced yet
Harry
12:28
For as much of a wreck as the Pirates have been for most of the last forty years, I'm still grateful for my first twenty years of following them. It was so great being in college in '71 while having a roommate who was an Oriole's fan. All the predictions had the O's as seriously heavy favorites. Game 7 will always be one of the highlights of my sports watching life.
Zeise
12:29
The Pirates, the As and the Big Red machine dominated the 70s. Think about that - three small market teams dominated a decade
Jimmie
12:33
Is Malkin a liability on defense?  Does he fit into the Sullivan style of play?
Zeise
12:34
Yes he fits Sullivan’s style - I don’t think he is a bad defensive player - I think he is prone to making some boneheaded decisions that lead to odd man breaks the other way
Harry
12:34
I missed the Zion story. I'd guess it was that he got money from Duke? I wish lots of guys who got money from schools would open up about it and clear out some of the dishonesty/
Zeise
12:39
Is anyone shocked the recruitment of Zion Williamson was dirty? There is nothing shocking about it. Like ive said a bunch of times “we know what the going rate is for top players now because of the adidas/FBI scandal but we are supposed to believe the two schools that get the most one and done players are doing so because their coaches are out recruiting everyone” It is a joke

12:39
From yesterday's starting lineup how many Pirates would you expect to see on the team this time next year? One, 2, or 3?
Zeise
12:41
No there will be probably like 15 of the 25 on the roster back next year. I don’t think there will be that much of a purge
SDWC
12:45
With the drafting of Najee Harris and the signing of Kalen Ballage, which of last year's RBs is most likely to be in roster trouble?
Zeise
12:47
Snell is here to stay but everyone else is in trouble
Iron-man
12:47
We've been hearing much of Canada's offense? Can you offer any insights?
Zeise
12:50
It is a run based offense that takes advantage of a lot of misdirection and really good run blocking schemes. There will be a lot of play action and a lot of presnap motions and a lot of passes to the running backs
