Have you heard anything on the contract talks with Letang and Malkin? I would let Malkin walk and do everything I could to resign Letang within reason. What would you propose?
Zeise
11:35
From what I have been told they want to definitely get Letang done and Malkin it will really depend on the amount of money he is willing to take
11:37
It means there are some terrible teams out there and they have played them a lot

So much talk about "keeping the core", and I get it, and am generally ok with it, given the replacements available out there. My question is though, the Pens have the most salary in the NHL allocated to the D corps, and it is likely not in the top 10 in the league. Who can we reasonably be expect to trade to free up space, and what do replacements look like (P.O. Joseph)?
Zeise
11:38
Great question - I think the Pens have too many D-men making too much money to be honest. They need to move some out of the way. I would expect Joseph will be a full time NHL player next year

I've heard from Heyward speaking on Tuitt saying he is definitely coming back for this upcoming year while other writers at your paper are not optimistic at all about his return. Who do you believe?
Zeise
11:39
At this point I don’t know who to believe. This is the weirdest story we have had about a player’s availability that I can remember. My gut feeling is he will play but who the hell knows
Bernard
11:39
Do you beleive the Raiders are really interested in Kap or is this a PR stunt b/c they've had so much bad press last few months re Gruden and the recent NYT "expose" on front office?
Zeise
11:41
I’m sure they are looking at him but I’m fairly certain that’s where it ends. Doesn’t mean they weren’t interested in him but the guy hasn’t worked for six years

The Pens absolutely need another veteran goalie and Fleury won't be one of them. Anything you have heard as to who is on their wish list for another goalie?
Zeise
11:41
They can’t sign Fleury. That is going backwards. And I don’t think they will be in the market for a goalie until they know their cap situation

Do you have any guess as to why Bob Nutting doesn't want to sell the Pirates? We all see him as a money grubber squeezing as much profit from them as possible. But he could sell them for over a billion dollars, that's about a 1,000% profit. Any money grubber would drool at that prospect. He can't really believe himself when he says it's because he wants to win a World Series if he runs the team as he's done? Does he just like the attention, even if it's hostile?
Zeise
11:42
He says he wants to hand the Pirates off to his kids. It is a very profitable business and so why would he want to sell it?
Jay Daven
11:42
Paul, there is still no definitive answer about whether Tuitt will play or wants to play.  It's not a good sign that he didn't show up at voluntary workouts.  What do you think?
Zeise
11:43
One would think he would want to be here this week for OTAs after missing all of last year but I’m done truing to figure out what is going on with that guy

Have you heard about any other players in the transfer portal that Capel is trying to recruit? Do they have a chance to compete with their current roster?
Zeise
11:45
I think he is pretty much done for this year. I like the roster. It is better. His backcourt is better. Nelly Cummings was a huge addition at a position if need. Keeping Hugley was a big deal. They are going to be better. How much, I’m not sure but they will be better

11:45
Can we expect to see a Pirates team playing a lot of young prospects instead of bargain basement fringe major leaguers by the end of this season?
Zeise
11:46
Lord I hope so. At some point it is time to move on from some of these guys who have never been much more than journeymen

11:46
Have you heard from the Joe Haden camp if there are suitors out there for his services? What are the chances of him coming back and would it have to be a late summer decision on his part after he tested the market?
Zeise
11:46
The longer it goes. The more I likely he is headed to the Steelers

11:47
Hi Paul ….my question is Baseball, Hockey, have minor league teams why doesn’t Football?  You could play your marginal players and practice squad players on a Friday or Saturday Night against the team your Number one line-up would play on Sunday.
Zeise
11:47
Because the NFL has a free minor league system called NCAA football
Mercury
11:47
Another Kaepernick sighting. What do you make of it?
Zeise
11:48
Not much. I can’t see him making a team better but stranger things have happened
Bernard
11:48
Had Bruce Arians remained OC, would the Steelers have experienced more post season success (albeit while potentially shortening Ben's career)?
Zeise
11:49
Probably not because their defense was falling apart. The
more they relied on Ben throwing the less success they had
Where’s My Clark Bar?
11:49
Paul, so Pittsburgh does have a baseball team!! H2P!
Zeise
11:49
Apparently, yes
Robert Nutting
11:49
I don't understand why you non Billionaires are criticizing my Baseball company Supervisor Benjamin Cherrington. My Baseball company has made progress towards making me the richest Company owner in Based Ball. That's something
Zeise
11:50
You have a long way to go to be at the top of that class!!
pozone6031
11:50
I am hoping they will still pick up a run stopper in FA. You hear anything?
Zeise
11:50
They usually bring in a few guys right after June 1 and then during training camp. I’m sure that spot is dependent on Tuitt

11:54
Which number will be higher? Wins by Coach Chicken Salad or HR’s by Ke’bryan Hayes?
Zeise
11:54
I don’t know who coach chicken salad is but I’m sure he will have more than zero so I’ll go with him!!
Cole Tucker
11:55
i sure do suck at baseball
Zeise
11:56
Not true I saw you had three hits in Indianapolis!

I don't care what Steve Kerr thinks about guns. He's a multi millionaire surrounded by security. Every law on the books wouldn't have prevented what occurred nor would've new one. And punishing the masses for the action of a few evil people makes no sense. We didn't demand "car reform" when the guy used his car as a weapon in Wisconsin. Why do these ballplayers insist on thinking anyone cares about their opinions either way ?

But he pounded on the table and said it with passion so even though what he actually said was ridiculous - the bill he made mention of would not have done a damn thing to stop any of these shootings and it is clear he has no idea what the bill actually says - he got the reaction he wanted from the clueless among us which is “this is insightful, please listen to what he is saying” I found that rant to be grandstanding of the worst kind and he should have been ripped, not praised for it.
