If you talk to the math guys, he can fulfill what his contract is and give the Pirates their value with his glove alone. If he hits it is gravy. He is a much better baseball player than Polanco

How does the Pirates top minor league team in Indianapolis hold onto the name Indians?

Good afternoon Paul.  With your grilled cheese at Archie’s, I was wondering if you have any suggestions what can be done to reduce or stop the problems in Southside and East Carson Street in particular?
Zeise
12:42
Well the good news is Archie’s is at 23rd and all of the trouble is between 12th and 18th and to that end I would say nothing only a large police presence but allowing police to be proactive and arrest and write citations for everyone that steps out of line no matter what the offense is, even open containers and public drunkenness. The second thing is this - bars/establishments/food places/hookah joints must close at midnight and the streets must be clear by 1 AM

Why is Oscar Marin still employed here? He sucks as a pitching coach.
Zeise
12:45
That may be a bit harsh but if his job is to develop pitchers ask yourself this - which of the Pirates pitchers has gotten better under his watch? He obviously has not got it done and so I agree it may be a time for a change

Hey Paul.  Love your chats.  I'm curious about all the hatred for Mason.  What caused this?  While he isn't a franchise QB, he is a very solid backup.  He is being made out to be a terrible QB.  Seems like the team gave up on him after the Garrett incident.  Think the organization didn't believe his side of the story and turned on him then?  I know they have to defend him publicly and don't want to condone assault for name calling, but it seems this is when their attitude towards him turned.
Zeise
12:46
The only hatred is from delusional fans who are incapable of separating fandom from reality. He has done nothing wrong. The Steelers have simply taken the approach that they don’t think he is good enough timo be their guy, nothing personal at all

Paul, In Jason Mackey's article today, he referred to Bryan Reynolds as a player who the Pirates should be counting on to build a winning team.  This means a long term deal, and it won't be team friendly like Hayes.  Will they sign Reynolds?  I don't have any faith that this will be done as I believe it would have to be in the neighborhood of $17-19M per year:  market price using Braves' Rosario (Heyward?) spring deal...
Zeise
12:48
It would be shocking if Reynolds is a part of building a contender. I don’t see them giving him a long term deal. I think he will be traded by next year’s Trade deadline

Hi Paul, if the Steeler offense is as bad as last year, will Canada be gone?
Zeise
12:49
Yes, last year he had the excuse he had to defer to Ben Roethlisberger. There are no more excuses

Paul, is it strange that Eric Ebron, and Joe Haden are still not signed anywhere?
Zeise
12:50
Nah. Haden is old and probably still asking for too much money. Ebron is not a good player
Joe Mayo
12:50
Will Ke’Bryan Hayes lead the league in singles?
Zeise
12:51
Maybe some day but probably not because that would mean he is hitting .300 or better and I don’t see that

Will Coach Chicken Salad return next season to lead the Maulers?
Zeise
12:52
I have no idea who that is
Where is my Clark Bar?
12:52
Paul, realistic to expect PITT in the big dance this year? Capel seems to have righted part of the ship! Thanks
Zeise
12:53
No I don’t think so and I don’t think he needs to. I really believe if he shows legit improvement and gets to like 9 ACC wins he will get another year
Amanda

Thank heavens you and walls are finished. Yesss score 1 for the good guys

Paul there is the biggest bad beat jackpot in the country now at Rivers Pittsburgh for poker. Over $1.1 million dollars. Are you gonna consider going to play some cash there to potential hit it? I think it's worth it buddy.

Paul, are Steelers still looking for a backup to Najee or are they content to go with McFarland or Snell?  Thanks.
Zeise
12:56
Unless they pick up another Balage type, yeah pretty much it is Benny Snell and McFarland which is not good enough

Regarding the Saudi golf tour, how can competition be bad for the sport? The PGA was running a monopoly with their tour. No guaranteed money for any of their players for the most part. I can only think this will give the players options now to make more money and it may spike the purses on the PGA tour because they need to compete with the Saudi money. How is this bad for golf? Competition is the American way!
Zeise

It is great for sports, competition brings thr best out of every situation

Is Cruz hurting his future by his lack of enthusiasm for playing the outfield?  Thanks.
