OK let’s get started !!!

Good morning. The NFL and it’s players have several months to figure things out. They have to come up with a way to recognize and even promote social justice reform while staying away from the anthem and the flag. I know the league and even SOME of the media are so arrogant that they’ll quickly dismiss folks who say they’ll shut the games off if they look more like a PSA than a football game but I believe the threat is real. People tend to forget that the drop in ratings and ticket sales were significant enough that the league had to bend and crack down on the kneeling and even found a way to quietly go back to NOT showing the anthem in most games. Do you trust that the league and the players can get this right? Again, I can handle a small ceremony or other type of announcements but if the games seem like it’s all about it it’s not going to go well. In my opinion anyways.

That is the longest question in PG chat history!! Yes I agree the NFL would really do well to try and come up with a way to acknowledge BLM and racial justice and do it in a unified way. That’s not what some people want but at this point we see how divisive it becomes when the anthem is involved. There are plenty of ways to accomplish awareness without adding that element into it again

Paul it’s hard for me to understand why sports journalists when asked about patriots *Dinasty* is in question for all their cheating don’t come out and say it or accept it .. if we all fans and also players know it !! I remember Hines and many eagle players said the cheatriots were ahead of the plays in championship games and SB plus everything the league destroyed on purpose.. they stole sheets with plays from other teams meeting rooms, etc..for me they are not great for these reasons and will always have the asterisk.. it was obvious! !are u on my train? Thanks
Zeise
12:11
Because they cheated but I don’t believe that the cheating is why they won what is it, six Super Bowls and all that. Everyone knew they were doing it and knew what to do to protect themselves from it and the Patriots still had to execute and make plays. The “asterisk” stuff is a bunch of sour grapes from a bunch of fans of other teams who just can’t accept that the Patriots were actually that good

now with ben coming out about his pron addictions don't you think he was guilty of both sex acts on those 2 women? maybe now people will realize what a terrible person he really is, i knew it all along, should the steelers cut him right now and save cap money,,,,,,its the right thing to do !!!!
Zeise
12:22
I have no idea what one has to do with the other. I’m not even sure what the point is. And if the Steelers cut him it would hurt their cap

Hey Paul, just want to say I always look forward to your chats, articles, radio show and TV appearances.  Keep up the good work.

Is Big Ben clean and sober now? If so, since when? He is the one who brought it up.
Zeise
12:24
I read that and I would assume that yes, he is. He has been a guy who has made it very public the changes he is making in his life for the better. I think the Georgia thing and suspension were a turning point in his life in many ways

Paul, Are you Liberal, Libertarian, Conservative, a Woke SJW, or just a normal dude with some common sense?
Zeise
12:27
I’m a normal dude with common sense. I detest our two-party political system, I detest virtue signaling and false equivalences. We would be a much better country if people used common sense, thought for themselves and stopped allowing their political bias and allegiance to political parties dictate how they think and what they say. It is so damn lazy and dumb to think that wat

If the 2020 NFL season is cancelled will the billionaire owners still be billionaires in 2021?  I worry about them.

I think they will be able to pay some bills

Paul, been meaning to ask this for years. What would it take for any team in any sport (let’s go with the Steelers) to adopt a “no celebration” mentality in games, as a team? Why does a player have to “celebrate” EVERY sack, fumble recovery, tackle, you name it? In my humble opinion, it takes away from the flow of the game, and one of those teams is going to LOSE that game anyway. Sure didn’t see it with the Steelers of the 70s and would love to see ONE TEAM - in ANY SPORT - to adopt or return to a mentality of real sportsmanship and less self-importance.
Zeise
12:34
What would be the point if that? I can live without the choreographed nonsense in the end zone because that isn’t spontaneous and isn’t about anything other than “look at me” But it doesn’t bother me enough to get all bent about it. The games are emotional and they are played with adrenaline and energy. And when a guy makes a great play a lot of times there is a spontaneous reaction and that’s a part of it. I have no issues with it, emotions are a part of the game

Paul, do you think if there were an injury to one of the wr or the possible slow development of Claypool the Steelers would kick the tires on Martavis “Smokey” Bryant (vet minimum/prove it deal)?  I know he was mercurial and not quite the wr he was in 2014-15 when he returned in 2017 but he still consistently helped take the top off the defense.

I have to imagine that ship has sailed out of the same port on the Ohio River that Mr Big Chest sailed out on. I can’t see either coming back though stranger things have happened I suppose

I’m betting that after they try it for a few weeks they figure out that professional sports just aren’t going to work this year and there will be no NFL season. Thoughts?
Zeise
12:37
A lot of people are predicting that - but I say how can they play soccer in Italy, baseball in Korea, Tawain and Japan and rugby in several  other countries

Hey Paul,  pro golfers Chambeau, Rory and Koepka are examples of golfers who have  bulked up.Their physiques seem to play a big role in their driving games. giving them a decided advantage. Do you think other players will also bulk up and will golfers with slighter physiques  still be able to compete?  Thanks.
Zeise
12:40
The last two PGA Tour winners over the last two weeks are both slender and not bulked up. It isn’t about driving it 350 instead of 320 - it is about making shots. Sure length helps and gives a tiny advantage but the way all these guys hit the ball now I’m not sure there is that big of edge.

Have you heard if the Pirates have any interest in signing Puig?  I think his arm is needed in right field.
Zeise
12:41
I would have a hard time believing they would sign him in a year when they were trying to shed payroll unless he is going to play for peanuts.

Even without fans being present, I just don't see how sports are going to start back up. As soon as teams started congregating, like the Phillies in baseball or the Lightning in hockey, there were positive COVID cases reported.  Do you really think we'll see pro sports by the end of July?
Zeise
12:43
I don’t know why anyone is surprised that the teams showing up at facilities and aggressively testing is leading to some positive cases. That’s the whole point of testing and the whole point of what we are doing. I do think we will

Will the Penguins make it to the Stanley Cup finals? Which team is their biggest obstacle?
Zeise
12:51
I think Boston and Tampa are the two best teams in the East and it will be one of those two teams that emerge from the East
Donna

Hi Paul...are Steven Brault and Chad Kuhn ready to pitch and if so, what will their roles be?
Zeise
12:52
I think both will be ready to go. Brault will be a starter and I think Kuhl will either be a bullpen guy or an “opener” which Derek Shelton has talked about using some
Mercury
12:52
Do you have the same opinion about the Astros’ cheating that you do about the Patriots’?
Zeise
12:53
Yes I do. They still had to hit and make plays in the field and they still had to execute pitches. And sign stealing has been a part of baseball as long as there has been baseball so what they did isn’t that much different

Paul, there is still no answer for a situation when a player tests positive during practice or more importantly before a game, is there?  Would they quarantine the entire team?
Zeise
12:55
I would assume it would be handled like the PGA Tour handled it - take the player out of commission and test all the players they had contact with. I’m assuming if there is a big outbreak on a team they might have to forfeir

Does the NFL  and other leagues have any contingency in the event a team with a significant number of players and coaches test positive and have to shut down for the season?  How would that affect the team’s schedule and record along with their scheduled opponents?
Zeise
12:58
Well as I said - we have to be ready for seasons with forfeits, maybe playoffs where teams have to drop out. I’m assuming that it is all on the table.

Has the NFL stated how contracts would be maintained if we do not have a season.  Would the terms of this season then roll to next meaning if you had two years remaining and there is not a season would then year one of contract then start next year? Would a not full season still count as a full season?
Zeise
12:59
I have not read how that will he handled but that’s a great question actually

Paul, I heard Emmanuel Ocho say that blacks use the N word as a term of endearment. I have heard it used by blacks in not such an endearing way. Is it used that way in the locker rooms? Why can't we all agree that it is offensive and nobody use the word?

Paul, were you surprised by Big  Ben's admission to alcohol and porn addictions? Do you think this was common knowledge in the Steelers' front office?
