Trading Hornqvist for at best the guy is a 3rd pairing d-man.  Salary dump? Or is Jim R. Clearing space to go get Tanev's brother?  Chris
Zeise
12:44
As I’ve said before - Rutherford isn’t trading away Hornqvist of three or four years ago. The salaries I think were pretty close though the Pens would be taking on a younger player with more years of control
Joe
12:44
Why are the Pens trading Hornqvist for a worse player on a worse contract? I understand the desire to trade Hornqvist, but come on. It’s easier to hide a declining forward than a bad defenseman. If they want an offensive minded Dman, they can get one a lot cheaper and with shorter term on the free agent market, and one who’s right handed. What is Rutherford doing?

I saw the recent news report of the Oneil Cruz crash in the DR where 3 people were recently killed. It has now came out that Cruz drinking. Any word on his possible fate? Not only with the Pirates, but in life.

Joe — I think we have a tendency in this town to overrate players we like even when it is clear they are in decline. What do you think is realistic to get in return for him at this point?
Long Arm - As I’ve said wait until the facts fome
out

Once again, the Pirates have a couple of decent games and extraordinary starting pitching at the end of the season in meaningless, no pressure games. So, this will allow management to say, once again, that the future is bright and we don't need to spend any real money to improve the team. My question, how many years in a row will Pirate fans buy that BS?
Zeise
12:49
I don’t think so. I think when you are in the conversation as the worst team in baseball there are no silver linings. Basically they have to start over amd
12:50
they know it

Could be a BIG win on Saturday for Pitt but, as a lifelong Pitt fan, I remain skeptical. What your predication on the game?
Zeise
12:51
Well we are gonna see how good the Panthers defense is. Louisville has a really good offense. But Putt should also be able to score against the Cardinals defense. Pitt should win and if the Panthers do we can start to say that maybe this is a different Pitt team

My Celtics are done and, worse yet, it seems like this is the Laker's year. Tell me that the Heat can beat the Lakers?
Zeise
12:55
Maybe. And while we are at it - can we finally acknowledge that Eric Spoelstra is an elite coach? Dragich and Herro will be the key, they have outplay the Lakers complementary players. And if Danny Green is a little off that Heat zone can be a nightmare for the Lakers. But the Lakers better take care of the Nuggets first!!!

Bigger criminal enterprise ? The Gambino Family or the Pirates ?
Zeise
12:57
Ha ha ha. The Pirates have Indeed been stealing money for years! But they have yet to employ a Gotti so I’ll go with the Gambinos

Saw on my Facebook memories from 7 years ago me talking about the Pirates being in the playoffs. Should I just accept the fact that the Pirates will never be in the postseason ever again. Ever and that 2018 was the last time they will ever be above .500 again. Ever ?
Zeise
12:58
No. I predict they will be in the playoffs (thanks to expanded playoffs) within the next five years!

The Steelers have a lot of talent at WR and TE... will there be enough passes to keep them all happy?
Zeise
1:00
They got Big Ben the old gunslinger back there!! He wants to keep them all happy that means he gets to chuck it 50 times a night!!!!
Buc’nutz

  • I’m a 71 year old lifelong Bucs fan. Will I live long enough to see another Pirates’ World Series win?
Zeise
1:02
You appear to be someone who is definitely gonna see the century mark in life. So that’s 30 more years on this planet for you. That’s the good news. On the Bucs getting to a World Series before then, well, I’m afraid I got some bad news......

So if Baseball has a full season next year, and given the Pirates won't change the roster because of the ownership, do you see them challenging the 1899 Cleveland Spiders record for most losses in MLB history ?
Zeise
1:03
If they don’t do anything to the roster in the offseason other than add a healthy Jameson Taillon? I see this team as a 65-win team at best. They have to add some pieces
Jim Belushi

What are you smoking these daze?
Zeise
1:06
Hey famous people are jumping into the chat! I must say I loved your work in Trading Places but most of the rest of the movies you have been in have been a steaming pile of hot garbage
Joe
1:06
paul, I think they should get another player back for Hornqvist who’s fallen out of favor with their club but one who is signed for only 2-3 years and significant
Zeise
1:07
Yeah of course but again I don’t know how much you can really command in return for Hornqvist at this point
Dennis

Today is Joe Green's birthday.  All Steeler fans should wish him a great one!
Zeise
1:07
What a great player he was. He is definitely on the Mt Rushmore of Steelers
Matt from LA
1:07
Yes, I agree that Spoelstra is underrated and underappreciated. He never got the credit he deserved when he had Lebron and Wade. I never thought that they could beat the Celtics, but you have to give them credit even if they don't beat the Lakers or the Nuggets. Personally, these playoffs have reinvigorate my appreciation of the NBA!
Zeise
1:08
It has been a whole lot of fun watching these playoffs - and the Heats run has been great
Matt from LA
1:09
How embarrassing is it that the A's, Padres, Rays, Reds (possibly) and Marlins (possibly) have made or may make the MLB playoffs and the Pirates have the worst record in baseball? So much for the small market excuse!
Zeise
1:10
Give it a few years Matt!!! This group just got here and need some
time to rebuild. All those teams have gone through rebuilding
Les
1:10
What are the odds that the Pirates will have a diffrent owner than this bum they have now?
Zeise
1:10
Not good
Way off
1:10
How can local sportswriters predict 79-84 for Pirates and have them actually be so bad?  I didn’t take that bait.   Thanks. What would be your prediction for next year considering how they enjoy conducting business in the offseason?
Zeise
1:12
Well predicting 79 wins this season would have been foolish since they only played 60 games! And yes this team is God awful and as I said if they make no moves this team will win 65 games next year. They have to be better

Why doesn't Pitt play my song "Renegade" at the start of the 3rd quarter instead of that lame "Sweet Caroline" ?
