No many, actually. I mean there is nothing he did that they don’t have others who could do them

12:32
Who has your Heisman vote (If you, in fact, have one) at this point of the season?
Zeise
12:32
Wow, Kenny Pickett!

12:32
Do the Giants finish off the Dodgers tonight?
Zeise
12:33
I picked the Dodgers to win so I can’t change now - Dodgers win 4-3

Why do the Steeler corners play ten yards off the man when blitzing. This is why they get beat instead of playing press. Your thoughts?
Zeise
12:33
They aren’t good in press coverage

Hi Paul.  I don't watch very much baseball anymore, but I did  watch a bit of the Tampa/BoSox playoffs.  Boston has some serious sluggers on that team.  Their emphasis on hitting trumped Tampa's homegrown system that the Pirates covet.  I fear any rebuild for Bucco glory is a question of decades versus a few years.  Outside of Reynolds and possibly O'Neil Cruz, I don't see any revival of the Lumber company, which is what it takes to have winning baseball (Note, I didn't say "competitive" baseball..).  Was my sample size, Rays/RedSox playoff, too little?  Your thoughts, please.  Thanks for these chats btw.
Zeise
12:35
Nope that’s baseball - you better have guys who hit the long ball in your lineup or you are not winning much

Do you expect any more NFL personnel to be exposed as the result of the Gruden emails or was this just a witch-hunt for him? I can’t imagine there weren’t some in kind responses to things he said.
Zeise
12:36
Nope. I think those emails incriminating league personnel and Dan Snyder will disappear faster than the spyware files

Have the Steelers ever picked up a player just before the November trading deadline that played a significant role for them that season?
Zeise
12:37
Not one that comes to mind
Bernard

Hoping Juju heals up quickly and has a rewarding career here or elsewhere.  My question is, doesn't he potentially have a chance to be a modern day Hines Ward in the slot?  Hines was never the #1 outside threat, but he sure as heck had a rewarding career on the field and was paid quite well.  He's also a legend in Pittsburgh and well-regarded across the league.
Zeise
12:38
No I don’t think he will ever be as productive as a receiver as Hines was and he is not as good of a blocker

Thought Geno Smith played pretty well coming in unexpectedly to replace Russell Wilson.  Sure hope the Steelers don’t underestimate him.
Zeise
12:39
It is much easier when you game plan against a guy than when a guy comes in to the game in progress
Bernard
12:40
Boy the Steelers wasted a ton of mid round picks on RBs over the years . . .
Zeise
12:40
I have no idea what that means

Paul, did you ever have one of those moments where you (or perhaps your agent) ran their mouth a tad, and then were faced with a "well, here you go, let's see what you got" scenario?  Yeah, me neither. Have a good one.
Zeise
12:40
I’m undefeated in the streets, or something like that
Dana
12:41
Hey Paul.  Have you heard if the National League will adopt the designated hitter next season?  Who might the Pirates use in that capacity?  Thanks.
Zeise
12:41
It sounds like that could be the case as part of the CBA negotiations
Bernard
12:42
So how do you think the Gruden email leak played out?  Did Goodell give Davis all the info and basically say fire this dude and when Davis failed to act, Goodell just started leaking to force his hand?  Or, did Goodell just play the long game and sink Gruden b/c Gruden was less than complimentary to the commish?
Zeise
12:43
Yep. If there was no criticisms of the commissioner I bet they don’t see the light of day. Just like the other 649000 emails we can’t see
Joe

Penguins performance against Tampa: good mainly because Tampa wasn’t ready to go and therefore a one-off; or two, legitimately good and a sign of good things to come?
Zeise
12:44
Nothing matters in hockey until mid-January. It just doesn’t
Bernard
12:44
So Goodell did pressure teams to draft Michael Sam.  Wasn't the party line Sam was picked solely for his ability to play at the NFL level?
Zeise
12:45
I don’t know that to be true, that’s just what Job Gruden said. My problem with Jeff Fisher’s explanation is if he liked Sam so much why did he cut him and not even keep him on the practice squad?
Joe
12:45
What the —— is going on with Tuitt and will he play this season?
Zeise
12:46
I don’t know that anyone knows the answer to that, including him
Bernard
12:46
Why is there a belief amongst some fans and media that Haskins is an effective running QB?  I saw every game he started at tOSU live and that dude is a pure pocket QB.  Meyer loves running his QB and Haskins almost never ran the ball.
Zeise
12:48
We are all friends here so I’ll try and be as discreet but blunt as possible…. In the eyes of some, every black quarterback is a running quarterback and exceptional athlete with lots of speed.

Great win last week and hopefully will spill into this week!  Towards the end of the second quarter we had over 30 seconds and a time out.  We ran a draw and then walked off the field with over 26 seconds remaining.  Why?  Why not throw a few balls down the field get, out of bounce, call a time out and kick a field goal?  It would have reduced the drama of that last drive by Denver.
Zeise
12:48
Because you don’t want Ben throwing more than he needs to. And he didn’t need to

Hello Paul, what’s your take on Kyrie Irving not wanting to get the vaccine and the Nets saying he won’t be able to play until he does?
Zeise
12:50
I think it is absurd that people are being forced to get a shot against their will as a condition of their employment. Kyrie is fortunate enough that he can afford to take the season off. Many others who have lost their job are not.
Brian

Did you read Cherington's answer recently when asked if the Pirates will increase payroll? Just a bunch of double talk and word vomit. It's obvious they aren't going to spend at all. Shouldn't we as fans be fed up? I'm not going to anymore games because they don't care.
Zeise
12:51
Yes that answer was exactly this “how not to say a thing despite saying many words”
