Trout will be dealt to the Phillies on June 31st

When does Bryce Harper return? I heard he could return sooner than expected...
Mark P
2:42
Still too early in the rehab process to really gauge if he might be ahead of schedule or not.  It's not like he's showing up in May or anything, but getting Harper back in early July as opposed to after the ASB still counts as "early."

Will Marsh get a chance to hit lefties full time? If not who gets those pa's?
Mark P
2:44
This could be Kingery's opening to land a spot on the Opening Day roster.  But since the Phillies like Marsh as a long-term answer, it makes sense that they'd give him ABs against lefties to see if he's really a true everyday guy

Who do you think winds up getting the most save opps? Seranthony, Soto, Alvarado or Kimbrel?
AJ

When it’s all said and done, who will lead the pack for being the closer for the Phillies? I know they said it will likely be a committee but who would probably be “the guy” when they need it the most.
Mark P
2:46
Dominguez is my pick of that group
Even if he might not be "the guy," but rather the head of the committee

Poll time? Phillies's wins in '23....over under 90?
Mark P
2:47
Phillies' win total?

Over 90 wins (40% | 14 votes)

Under 90 wins (31.4% | 11 votes)

Exactly 90 wins (28.6% | 10 votes)

Total Votes: 35

I will note that after doing a few of these team-centric chats, it seems clear that a club's fanbase is naturally going to gravitate towards a more positive outcome

What’s the payroll looking like after ‘23?
Mark P
2:50
Still pretty big!  Hoskins, Kingery, Kimbrel, and Nola all come off the books after the season, though obviously a Nola extension would keep him around and boost his current salary

Why do you think the Phillies seemed to overpay for Strahm and Kimbrel?
Mark P
2:54
Philly thinks both can do better than in 2022, even if the club would probably take those 2022 numbers as a floor.  Kimbrel was shaky but he wasn't actually "bad" by any means with the Dodgers.

There was some sticker shock on the prices, but that seemed to be the cost of doing business on pitchers this winter.  The prices came down a bit on relievers later on, but the Phillies didn't want to wait and risk getting stuck with pitchers who weren't their top targets

Do you see Rojas making an impact in the Phillies of in '23?
Mark P
2:56
Maybe as a call-up for the bench late in the season, possibly in the event of injury.  That scenario could change if Rojas hits well at Triple-A, since if he can become even a decent bat, his defense and speed is already MLB-ready

What do you think happens with Noah Song ?  Do they keep him or return him to Bosox ?

2:57
Whither the news on Noah Song....? Haven't heard much the past couple weeks? He'd be good addition post all star break?
Mark P
2:59
Song has been out of action due to a bad back, which adds another wrinkle to his status.  Since he's a Rule 5 pick, he can't be an "addition" since he has to stay on the roster for either the entire season, or on the active roster for 90 days and the IL the rest of the time
3:00
Dombrowski is so high on Song's potential that (if healthy) it seems like Song will get some looks on the 26-man roster.  Whether he pitches well enough to stick in Philly's plans is yet to be seen, and it's a lot to ask of a kid who hasn't really pitched in a few years due to his Navy duties

Favorite episode of It's Always Sunny?
Mark P

So many fantastic choices, and if you asked me tomorrow I might have another choice.  But, I love the "one-take" episode of Charlie trying to save the bar from a health inspection

What are the percentages on extensions for Nola and Rhys?
Mark P
3:03
55/45 for Nola in favor of an extension, and maybe 20/80 for Hoskins in favor for no new deal.

Just my speculation, based on how there seems to be a lot more chatter between Nola and the team than Hoskins.  In fact, as of late February at least, Hoskins hadn't had any extension talks

We've hit the hour mark, so let's wrap things up.  Thanks for all the questions, and keep your eyes peeled for more team-related chats and player chats in the coming days and weeks here on MLBTR
