There's always a chance, if someone hands him an intriguing prospect. But I think the plan for Yzerman is to build the system out and not even contend next year either

This is weirdly worded but I think you're asking if the Carter deal surprised me. Yes, it did, I didn't see that coming at all.
The Deslauriers stuff is coming from reputable sources, so I think it's real interest
