I don't think this is the year he makes major changes, but next year if Doughty is looking more and more like he's leaving in free agency and they aren't back in the playoffs, it'll be time to blow it up

They've done some nice things recruiting young players this spring, and they still have a few really really good players.
But it's not really a recipe for a contender at the moment.

They can't really regain any value, though there was a time at the beginning of the season that Brown didn't look like a fourth liner.
I guess that is a positive.

I do believe that is a plan for the future.
Whether they are technically in the NHL, or some sort of champions league I don't know..but if the league wants to keep growing it's a natural step.

As much as NCAA hockey wants to be NCAA football/basketball, they have a hard time competing with the pros.
If Florida offers him the job, I would be shocked if he turned it down.

So, here's the thing. I think it's terrible that Crosby got injured, I think it's reckless that Niskanen's stick hit him. But I just can't buy that he purposely tried to hurt him.
I've reacted in that exact manner when playing, raising a stick to an incoming player off balance. Maybe that's dirty, but it definitely wasn't on purpose.

It's just that if he leaves, probably Terry, Gambrell and others might jump. That would be a bummer for DU.
I live in Denver and would love to see what Monty could do with the Avs!
