I don't think he has much trade value at all. I'd put him in the same boat as Mike Condon from last summer, who everyone knew was talented in short bursts, but still couldn't fetch much.

Someone might take a swing at him if they have an injury, but there aren't many opportunities where Hutchinson is a clear upgrade.
The expansion draft really messed with the backup goaltender market, with guys getting NHL deals when they didn't really deserve them.

Hooray I made it live for once. You've mentioned the Avs "disappointing" return for O'reilly a couple times. In your eyes what do Zadorov and Compher have to develop into for it to be more balanced?

They'll both need to become full-time NHLers first of all.
Neither have shown that they can be real difference makers.

It's super fun to watch Zadorov destroy Scheifele twice in one game, but he'll have to be more than just a highlight reel hitter.
O'Reilly isn't my favorite player, but he's a legitimate first-line center.
Compher I do have high hopes for, but he'll need to take a big step forward this year.

If the contract still isn't done in February they definitely have the assets, but it's not clear who Tavares has on his no-trade clause.

In free agency I have a hard time believing they'd be in the running.
Which is also why they would probably avoid the rental.

I don't think so. The guys who are coming out in free agency are almost entirely mid to late round picks. Those are lottery tickets anyway.

If a team believes in the player, they'd rather take their chances to sign him. If you start seeing top picks waiting, maybe they'll be more hesitant, like they are with some Russian players.

The report was a two year deal that paid $2MM per season, but it sounds like he's not happy with that.
I can't see him earning more than $2.5MM though, which complicates things.

You would think Sakic could just eat the difference since Colorado isn't in cap trouble or competing, but he's taken a hard stance on basically everything at this point.
