Gavin Lee
6:24
So pretty much I'm exactly like Geddy Lee.
Rick
6:25
With the Kesler news, do you think the Ducks go after a 2/3C?
Gavin Lee
6:25
They probably should have already been going after one, but this definitely enhances that need.
Rakell will certainly play there now, at least to start.
Chris
6:26
Early take on Sergachev??  Does he make the team ???  If so, which D Man doesn't??  8 is too many
Gavin Lee
6:26
I've been bullish on Sergachev since before he was drafted..thought he was a top-5 talent.
I think he's more than ready right now.
6:27
Lots of teams carry 8 D, but you're right in thinking someone would be losing their starting spot to him. He's not going to sit in the press box.
6:28
I think I'd go with

Hedman-Stralman
Coburn-Dotchin
Sergachev-Sustr
6:29
Koekkoek-Girardi as the 7/8.
But, I'm also not in Lightning camp every day.
Joe
6:29
With a lot of teams needing centers including Anaheim, Montreal, and Pittsburgh, are there any low risk, high upside type centers available? Girgensons? Soderberg?
Gavin Lee
6:29
I don't think either of those guys are high upside.
6:30
Highest upside would be someone like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
But I don't think Edmonton moves him until next summer.
Chris
6:34
Not a Canes fan (Bolts!) but am I wrong thinking the Canes could be a surprise team??  Playoffs??
Gavin Lee
6:34
Won't be a surprise to me
I've mentioned them a few times as a potential playoff candidate.
They are a really, really well built team
6:35
For everyone who says they need more scoring...remember that Jeff Skinner is still just 25.
He scored 37 goals last year.
6:36
Sebastian Aho is 20. He put up 49 points.
Rick
6:36
If one surprise player were to make it out of the Ducks camp, who do you think it would be?
Gavin Lee
6:37
I've gotten this question a few times. I'm not sure anyone will really be a surprise. I guess if someone like Andy Welenski made it over Larsson
Harry
6:43
Is there anyone else in the league in a similar situation to Lupul's? I'm a Leafs fan and I get that he wants to play but that would be really bad for us if he was deemed healthy enough to play . . . . .
Gavin Lee
6:44
There are others in long-term injury status who want to play, Mikhail Grabovski immediately comes to mind.
But no one with the kind of rift between player and organization (that we know of).
First of all though, I so extremely doubt he would be deemed healthy.
6:45
But second, I don't even think it would turn out that badly for the Maple Leafs.
At worst they're probably just made to bury him in the minors and take the partial cap hit.
Harry
6:46
Wouldn't we have to ship him to Vegas with a 1st rounder attached?
Gavin Lee
6:46
I'm not sure if this is facetious or not, but no. The Leafs have room to pay Lupul's full contract if they had to, but they won't.

Is there a veteran offensive minded center that the Blues can trade for or sign in the offseason? Stasny is a free agent after this year. I don't see Duchene a good fit here.
Gavin Lee
6:47
I mean there is this guy in New York who still doesn't have a contract..
6:48
Honestly though, even if Stastny walks I think the Blues are just fine up front.
6:49
Fabbri/Schenn could play the top two spots next year, with the group of Steen/Berglund/Sobotka all there if needed.
Plus there is still Thompson and Kyrou coming
Both should push for jobs next year.

Was there ever a clear answer about the Simon Despres buyout? Was he healthy enough to be bought out, was it a contract termination, or did the two sides agree to something?
Gavin Lee
6:51
I think even if he wasn't healthy that very moment, they knew he could be in the future but that he'd been passed over in the organization.
