As long as McElhinney keeps winning, he'll be the backup for now.
But the Leafs have shown to have a quick hook if their backup struggles, and Pickard looked good in his AHL debut.

I think he only makes it up if the Leafs have an injury, but then takes over to start next season.

That offense must scare everyone in the league, and it's not just Matthews.
Their defense is still lacking, but with the forward depth they have (Mitch Marner is on the fourth line!) it might not matter.

If Anderson can give them .915 goaltending, and they can start avoiding the box a bit more, they'll do just fine.

The Isles have him in as a forward tonight.
They dressed seven defensemen just to get him into the lineup.

Not necessarily an "offensive" guy, but someone who can skate and move the puck.
You've gotta wonder if there is something to be done between the Leafs and Kings now, if say...JVR was willing to sign an extension.

I put it at about a 0.1% chance.

Just to entertain this for a moment, because people keep saying that it's impossible financially.

It's really not. It would be bad, sure. But they could absolutely get it done.
They'd have to thin out their forward depth though, which hurts.

As an aside, Uncle Leo may be the best nickname in the league.
But, I doubt they bring back any of them.

They love Carl Grundstrom, and Kapanen likely deserves a role at some point.
That center depth is an issue, but Bozak likely prices himself out of their market.
