Hey folks. Big news coming out of the BOG meetings. Seattle will be allowed to start an expansion application, and run a season ticket drive.
Just like Vegas did on their way to a team.
6:03
It'll cost them $650MM, but it looks like Seattle will get a team for 2020-21.
I say call them the Seattle Star Bucks.

Hey Gavin, welcome back!! What are your thoughts on the Tkachuk suspension? I feel it’s too light for a reckless act and especially since he’s a repeat offender(twice in 10 games!!!).
Gavin Lee
6:06
Thanks Doc. Apologies to anyone who was waiting on these chats...some personal matters kept me away from them for a bit.
On Tkachuk, I can't seem to settle my mind on it.
On one hand, he doesn't seem to be learning his lesson and on the other I can't imagine being suspended more than that for how light the "spear" was.
6:07
I can't say that there was ever really a chance of injury in either stick infraction, even though it's definitely "junior hockey" stuff.

Do the Jets make a move this year to help their playoff chances or do they wait for more of their younger to take over like Laine and Conner have?
Gavin Lee
6:08
Boy is that forward group fun to watch.
6:09
I don't think they go after a big addition, no.
I think they're realizing how good they might have it long-term
The most interesting thing about the Jets I think will be where Trouba fits into everything now.
He wanted out, but now that he's a big part of a winning team does he sign long-term?

What's wrong with the Blackhawks?  Are we looking at the end of an era or can they get back to being a premier team with the current core (ie Kane, Toews, Saad, Keith, and Crawford)?
Gavin Lee
6:11
I'm not sure that core will ever really be a premier team again.
More and more, the NHL is proving that early to mid twenties are peak years.
6:12
Now, don't get me wrong. Who is really putting money down against them in a seven game series, with those guys all healthy?
Hard to see them being real contenders though for some time.

6:12
Do you think the Canes will be buyers or sellers?
Gavin Lee
6:13
Neither, really.
I don't think they will buy, as they had better opportunities for that in the summer and must have passed.
But they also don't have a ton of obvious sell-able assets.
6:14
They have a ton of talent no doubt, but why auction off a defenseman in-season when you have only a handful of buyers, when you can put them up in the summer with 30.

6:15
Desperation in Edmonton, frustration in Montreal, how likely would a Pacioretty for RNH trade basis be? I’ve seen people/media on both sides suggesting it more and more.
Gavin Lee
6:15
I'd have to still put it at very unlikely, but you definitely have the GMs to do it.
6:16
Would that really change much for either franchise?
Taf
6:17
Could you see the Leafs trading for Oliver Ekman-Larsson? If so, who do you think they would/have to give up?
Gavin Lee
6:17
I don't think the Maple Leafs have the assets to get OEL, because they'd have to include one of Marner or Nylander. They're not doing that.
6:18
There's just not enough there in the cupboard, beyond Liljegren I guess.
Andy
6:20
What teams would suit a guy like Mike Green the best? And what return would the Wings be able to get from him?
Gavin Lee
6:21
The Wings will actually be able to get a fair bit for him I think, especially if they retain some salary.
The problem will be that no-trade clause
6:23
But, for potential teams that could use him? Toronto, Islanders, Penguins, Capitals, Kings, Wild, Canucks all could have various interest.
That's just off the top of my head, and obviously some won't be fits because of cap, etc.
Andy
6:24
So no Caps/Green reunion?
Gavin Lee
6:24
It'd be fun, but they'd need to move out some real money to fit him in.
Ron Duguay
6:24
Who are the biggest names to be moved before or at the deadline (assuming Tavares stays put)?  Thanks.
Gavin Lee
6:25
Evander Kane will be the one that lingers probably, but I can't imagine him not being dealt by the deadline.
