Hello and welcome to another chat!
First off a little housekeeping.
6:01
PHR is looking for some additional writers. Even if you've applied before, don't hesitate to send us another email! Just because you didn't get through previously, doesn't mean you won't be considered now.
6:03
Also our friends over at MLBTR have launched a YouTube channel! Make sure to jump over there and subscribe for all the new exciting content.

Now that that's done, I'll let some stuff roll in and we'll get started in a few minutes.

Any trades we can expect from the Blackhawks.

There has been a lot of talk about how they are likely to make a decision one way or the other on the Lehner/Crawford tandem and try to move the other, but I'm not completely sold on that idea.
As I've written before, the value of goaltenders at the deadline isn't exceptional, and I believe if they're being truthful it would be Lehner that they want to hitch their wagons to.
I just can't see them trading Crawford for peanuts at the deadline.
6:14
The player I'm very interested in watching in Chicago is Brandon Saad.
Trade rumors seem to follow him everywhere, and his contract isn't such a hard one to deal now that it has just a single year left (after this one).
6:15
A lot of answers should come for that team in the next few weeks. If they push even further up the standings perhaps they hold their assets, but if the bottom falls out the vultures will circle

What should I get excited about as a Kings fan these days
Gavin Lee
6:16
Adding a top pick to a prospect group that's already pretty decent.
I know it's hard to watch this season.
6:17
Harder still to hear about how every veteran player is going to get stripped off the roster.
But there are better days ahead.
Doughty/Kopitar/Quick are expensive, sure. But their contracts aren't crippling just yet.
6:18
Players like Vilardi, Kupari, Fagemo, Dudas, Thomas, Anderson-Dolan, Bjornfot are all exciting.
Imagine if they pull Lafreniere out as well.

With the injuries that Penguins have suffered throughout the year, do they really need to make a splash at the trade deadline?  Granted Guentzel is a big loss, but Schultz/Dumoulin should be back soon, Kahun is in concussion protocol but should be back in few weeks, and their defensemen have played well.  Bjugstad seems to be their only big question mark.  However, the Penguins have been linked to Zucker, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, and Toffoli... should they make a move or hold pat?
Gavin Lee
6:18
As long as they aren't mortgaging a huge part of their future, for sure they should add.
6:19
This is a team that only has so many Crosby-Malkin-Letang years left. Every single one should be a Cup push
Zucker especially would seem to be a perfect fit, though you have to fit his contract in going forward.

What have you heard about  how hard Don Sweeney is working the phones? It seems like there has been lots of scouts at the Providence Bruins games.
Gavin Lee
6:20
Boston is definitely involved in a lot of things right now. I was surprised by the Kreider report recently, even though he's a good fit. Just seemed to pricey to me.
But they will be involved right down to the deadline. Sweeney isn't sitting on his hands.

6:20
Who are the Islanders going to add at the deadline?  Lou hasn’t been shy in the past?
Gavin Lee
6:21
Everyone seems to think it was them who went after Travis Zajac.
They're going to add a forward for sure, but I couldn't say who it will be. Lamoriello doesn't leak.

Which skills competition event are you most looking forward to?
Gavin Lee
6:22
The fastest skater is still probably the best one isn't it?
I know there are the new things, but I'll believe they can pull it off for the broadcast audience when I see it.
Since I won't be in St. Louis for the game, I'm not all that excited about any of them.

6:23
Is Carolina going to add a veteran D to replace Hamilton? If so, whom is a good fit?
Gavin Lee
6:23
I mean there is a ton of smoke around that right now, with people referencing Waddell specifically. Running the phones looking for an upgrade.
I just am not sure why, to be honest. That team has one of the deepest defensive charts in the entire league.
6:24
But one name I would watch is Travis Hamonic in Calgary. The two clubs have done deals before, he would fit in on the right side and is a pure rental.
