Gavin Lee
6:00
Hello and welcome to another chat!
I'll get started in just a few moments
Justin
6:04
What would a potential Minnesota-Ottawa trade look like which might be brewing?
Gavin Lee
6:04
I think the chatter from Simpson was around Fiala and Ottawa's interest in him, but that doesn't make much sense to me as a deadline deal
6:05
I could certainly see Minnesota having interest in Nick Paul as a deadline pickup though. That kind of versatility is exactly what Guerin likes.
I'm just not really sold that the Wild would move Fiala at the deadline after he's found chemistry with Boldy and the team is looking to win now
Mike
6:05
Any chance Minny gives Rossi one more audition before going the trade route for another forward? Like they did with Boldy. Maybe they have their player right in the system
Gavin Lee
6:06
Speaking of Boldy. I think if anything they'll add a forward AND give Rossi another look.
6:07
He's been impressive, but you need a backup plan obviously. No guarantee he can handle himself yet

6:07
What is your best guess at Stevie Yzerman's surprise acquisition this TDL?
Gavin Lee
6:07
I'm not sure if they make a big splashy move, but something like taking Nick Ritchie off the Maple Leafs' books along with a sweetener seems like a prime Yzerman move.
6:08
The extra year to put him in the lineup, pump his numbers with some powerplay time and then flip him if necessary.
Rock the Red
6:09
Do the caps make a trade or are they hoping Mantha and Oshie coming back will be all they need?
Gavin Lee
6:09
I think if they make a real move it might have to be in net
6:10
They don't have a lot of bullets to fire with the cap situation being what it is. So adding a bunch probably isn't possible
John
6:10
If dealt where does fleury end up? With lehner injured could there be a reunion in Vegas?
Gavin Lee
6:11
Kelly McCrimmon put that rumor to bed right away (though I'm not convinced he didn't look into it)
6:12
In terms of who takes the spot if Lehner needs surgery, have to wonder if they would go after someone like Varlamov
They can't just go after Korpisalo or something, not with that roster.

6:12
Chances patty Kane gets traded
Gavin Lee
6:13
Pretty close to zero this season and almost as low in the offseason
6:14
Just don't see it happening, even with the expiring deal (after next season) and stumbling franchise
Lad
6:14
Besides Giroux, who else do you think will be traded from the Flyers
Gavin Lee
6:14
Ristolainen I would think. Yandle, Braun probably
6:15
I have wondered a little bit about van Riemsdyk
Because that seems like an interesting under-the-radar move for a contender, if Philadelphia was willing to eat half the deal
6:16
I mean there are a lot of things that JVR is not, but he can still help a powerplay and score goals at big moments
Mike
6:16
Any key college or over sea players you see coming to the NHL after their seasons are over? Power? Johnson? Eklund?
Gavin Lee
6:17
I imagine a whole whack of the Michigan players will sign quickly after their season ends.
Jake Sanderson will, if he's healthy enough
6:18
I wonder about a player like Nick Abruzzese, as a potential option for the Maple Leafs
John
6:19
Who do you think will be the Biggest name to hit UFA and where will they go?
Gavin Lee
6:20
It's interesting, there are a few big BIG names that currently are pending free agents. Malkin-Letang-Bergeron all seem like players who would never leave, right?
Right now, my bet is probably on Johnny Gaudreau being the top name though.
6:21
Obviously the Flames will try to keep him
But boy will UFA pitches from New Jersey/New York be pretty enticing to that camp, I imagine
Mike
6:22
How close is Cooley to wright? And is there anyone else that is close consideration for the top pick?
Gavin Lee
6:22
Personally I still have Wright ahead of Cooley, and pretty far ahead.
6:24
For me, there are players with a potentially higher ceiling than him--Cooley might be one of them but Nemec is the one that really stands out--but Wright is just..he's going to be an NHL center. He has 1000 games ahead of him in the league. Maybe some of those are as a 1C
A lot of them will probably be as a 2C
