Hello and welcome to the first post-deadline chat!
What a deadline it was. 32 trades?
Fun fun fun.
I'll let some things roll in and get started in a few minutes.

Thoughts on penguins?
Gavin Lee
7:13
Hard to be mad at anything they do, but at this point is Conor Sheary really an answer in the top-six?
I think I like Kahun the best out of the three players in that deal.
7:14
In terms of adding Marleau, I doubt he'll have a huge impact but everyone has always spoken highly of his leadership and work ethic.
Really won't hurt them.

Will the Blues have the cap room to resign both Scandella and Pietrangelo, or just one of them?
Gavin Lee
7:14
Remember when Scandella was just sold off by Buffalo to clear cap room, because everyone thought he was finished.
7:15
There's lots of time to make room, but it will all come down to whether Pietrangelo's agents push for Karlsson or settle for Carlson.
I honestly wouldn't be that surprised if he gets close to $10MM per season, at which point there will be casualties--not just Scandella
7:16
Still think he'll re-sign, but that's a lot of dough

What did you think of Pageau trade for Islanders?  How close was Parise trade from happening and do Islanders revisit in offseason or pursue a guy like Taylor Hall.
Gavin Lee
7:16
From everything I've heard, the Parise trade wasn't actually as close as it seemed. Both players had waived, which was why it was so public, but there was a lot more to work out and not a lot of time to do it.
The Islanders had discussed it with the Wild as far back as last summer.
It still might happen at some point.
7:17
In terms of the Pageau deal, I had said he was a good fit for them several times before in this chat.
But the extension, woof.
I think they'll regret that. Remember they have Barzal, Pulock and Toews to sign this summer

It has been fun watching the style of the game change over the years. As much as I loved rough old school hockey I must admit the speed game of today is exciting. What do you see as possibly being the next evolution of our game?
Gavin Lee
7:18
I really think you are going to see 5-on-5 turn more and more towards the 3-on-3 style.
7:19
All possession, holding onto the puck as much as you can even if it means skating it out of the zone.
7:20
I know that style can get blown up with a fumbled pass or mental mistake, but it's where all the young skill players are headed.

With another tv provider (YouTube TV) losing FSN Regionals, is there anything the NHL can do to guarantee fans can watch their teams on TV?
Gavin Lee
7:21
This is honestly above my pay grade, I don't know the ins-and-outs of the FSN agreement or the Dish dispute

Flyers didn't do enough imo..your thoughts
Gavin Lee
7:21
They did pretty much exactly what I expected.
Add some versatile bottom-six forwards
Guys that can play the middle if needed
7:22
They didn't have the cap room to do anything else really, unless they were going to move Gostisbehere or someone like it
Nim
7:22
Where does Markstrom play next season?
Gavin Lee
7:23
I think eventually they get something worked out in Vancouver.
I know you'd like it to be already, but I just think it's the best ending for both sides.
Nim
7:23
Did the Canucks do enough at the deadline to make noise in the playoffs? Or is there current roster good enough
Gavin Lee
7:23
Toffoli looks pretty good no?
7:24
They're good enough to get there, and once you get there anything can happen.
Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson are superstars.
I'd hate to play them
