Hello and welcome to another chat!
I'll let people join and get some questions in before I get started in a few minutes.
John

Sabres trade Staal to Carolina?
Gavin Lee
6:10
Wouldn't that just be the best
6:11
I don't know if it will actually happen--I think other teams will pay a bigger price--but it would be great to see him return there for a playoff run
Justin
6:11
Could you see my Sens trading for a controllable piece at the deadline?
Gavin Lee
6:11
If anything, I would imagine a move like that to be something like the Sonny Milano/Danton Heinen experiments in Anaheim
Not a big piece, but a guy who potentially could break out
6:12
I think the senators are just fine building with the young group they have
Justin
6:12
When will we start to see guys on one year deals start to sign extensions?
Gavin Lee
6:13
There is no rush here, teams are still not in great financial standing
I believe a lot of it will rest on whether Canada looks like it will have people back in the buildings next season and the timeline for US-based teams for full capacity.
Don't get me wrong, some might trickle in, but teams are going to wait as long as they can
Dan

Hey!  You excited for Drysdale?  How excited should I be as a ducks fan?
Gavin Lee
6:14
I'm very excited to see him play, though I'm not sure what kind of an impact he can really have at this point.
I don't think he's going to flip the Ducks skill level so much that they have the puck a ton, which means a lot of hard defending for him--not an easy task for an 18-year-old
6:15
If I were to predict anything, I bet people will be talking about him looking overmatched at times.
That doesn't mean give up on him. He's outstanding, I had him ranked higher than Sanderson in the draft just because of the upside I think he has.
Justin
6:15
Biggest piece traded at the deadline?
Gavin Lee
6:16
Ekholm is probably the one with the biggest impact, though you can debate whether he's a "bigger piece" than Hall
I don't think there will be many shockers

6:16
I know its not the offseason but have you guys thought about a free agent prediction contest like mlb trade rumors?
Gavin Lee
6:17
I'd love to do that! And we have discussed it internally before, even had the early motions going at one point, but I'm not sure if one will be ready for this season. Would that be of interest to you folks?
John
6:19
Capitals deadline predictions? Can they add anyone with their cap status?
Gavin Lee
6:20
Have you seen their CapFriendly page? They have like $10 in cap space
And that's not ten million, ten dollars
There are ways they could create some room, but it will be tough to accomplish much at the deadline
Really tough
Andy
6:22
How will the upcoming expansion draft impact this year’s trade market?
Gavin Lee
6:22
It will be another thing to consider, but I don't think it is the impediment that some people make it out to be
6:23
You can make moves with Seattle, or with other teams just before the draft to deal with any issues.
The deadline has always been about the immediate playoffs, not the future
It's the same reason I often say "that feels more like a draft deal" or something of that ilk
6:24
The ones with real expansion draft implications aren't the ones that often happen at the deadline
(Yes, I know there will be a few)
Justin
6:24
Are the Wild for real?
Gavin Lee
6:24
Dolla Dolla Bill Kirill is
6:25
I think last chat I said he would run away with the Calder
Anyone disagree?
Stimpyi
6:25
Is there any chance the cap moves beyond 81.5 for next year?   There are some fans in the stands now and the new US tv deal.
