Hey, Gavin.  Yesterday's firing were shocking, disappointing, and concerning.  Does this mean that Slats is going to have influence over Drury as he transitions into his new roles?  It seems like there will be pressure to add veterans, including "grit."  Should Rangerstown be worried about dealing the young talent that we accrued the past 3 years and regress back to the Rangers of the early 2000s where they overpaid 3rd liners and lousy defensemen?

I don't necessarily think there should be that much concern.
If Dolan had fired Gorton/Davidson and put Sather in as GM, I'd be worried. But Drury is a good executive, I think.

I'm a little wary of the reports that came out--they were very, very thin and sounded more like shots across Kuznetsov's bow than any actual desire to move him.
More like a "get it together" than, "we're done with you" I think
But, that doesn't mean it won't continue to deteriorate.

Imagine if Gorton went to Buffalo just to trade Eichel to the Rangers.

But Buffalo would need to pay out at least part of his contract, which I'm not sure they would want to do.
Who knows though really, the dust hasn't even really settled yet.

I was alway curious on McAvoy s PP deployment and the fact that grezylck and even reilly at times got first PP time with  McAvoy  on PP2. Why is that?

They were clear all offseason that Grzelcyk would be the powerplay replacement for Krug--they have never been huge on McAvoy getting the first PP unit.
I know this sounds weird, but I actually think it has at least something to do with McAvoy's handedness

They like having the left shot on the PP, for whatever exact reason. I'd have to really analyze why, but that's what it feels like

Big hype on Romanov at the beginning of the season. Warranted? How good is this player?

He's a good player!
He's not Victor Hedman, which is what some people seemed to expect

I don't think Romanov actually has very good offensive instincts
But his actual skills are so strong that he can look like a difference maker at that end sometimes

He'll have a great career, don't think he'll ever win a Norris or anything.
(that's certainly a high bar isn't it)

Can’t wait for the expansion draft and all the side deals as some team ls might need to make a side deal. Do you see this happening or remember what Vegas did and stay away. Basically pick who you want and move on. I keep thinking about the side deal that cost a team Theodore I think

Yeah that was the Ducks, and it was so they would pick Clayton Stoner instead of one of the other young D
But it was a horrible mistake
Those kinds of deals won't happen, but there will be several deals I'm sure
Just not as impactful
