Gavin Lee

The Blue Jackets will take everything as far as it can go before making a decision
6:24
For Philadelphia, I wonder if someone like Alec Martinez, who has a ton of experience on the right side, would work as that veteran to calm things down.

K'andre Miller for Seth Jones....who says no?
Gavin Lee
6:25
It will take more than a single prospect (as good as Miller is) to get Jones at this point
And I'm not even sure if that makes sense for the Rangers
They already have Trouba and Fox dominating the right side
Brett
6:25
Should Makar take the biggest deal possible now or try to bridge through the freeze? If he takes the big deal now, do Avs let Landy or Grub walk?
Gavin Lee
6:26
I think both sides are looking long-term (probably record-setting) deal at this point.
If you look at Chabot's eight-year, $64MM deal, that's a good start. But the number is much higher
6:28
As for Landeskog, I think it ultimately gets done
Grubauer is so interesting because he had such a good season and then blew it for them at the end

6:29
Do you think NYR can get Kraken to pick Matt Martin from Isles and trade several prospects and or picks for him? Assuming he is not protected
Gavin Lee
6:29
You're saying as a way to get around Lamoriello refusing to trade to a rival?
Umm, I mean maybe? I don't think that would be very prudent though.

6:31
Do the Wild need to make a side trade to protect one of their goalies in the EX draft?
Gavin Lee
6:32
If they wanted to make sure, sure. But remember that Seattle isn't going to take 10 goalies. I don't think Talbot is in a ton of danger, especially with some of the other names Minnesota likely has to expose
Doughty
6:34
I know Drew has a NMC but that does not mean he could not be traded with his consent. Drew would lobe to finish his career in Canada with a team closer to winning the cup. What do you think of moving hi while he stills has value and getting from under that contract. The Kings are still years away and you can see Drew is not happy losing. Thoughts?
Gavin Lee
6:34
Would he love that?
Doughty has said many times that he loves Los Angeles
How many teams in Canada are actually closer to winning the Cup anyway?
6:35
I mean, is Montreal a better bet to win the Cup next season?
6:36
Yeah, I'm sure the Kings would love to get some cap relief, but there are pretty good things happening in Los Angeles with that farm system. Make a big splash this summer and suddenly there's no reason to want to leave
6:37
I also think people overrate the idea of franchise icons being traded. It doesn't happen nearly as often as people want it to.
Red The Bruin
6:37
If he was to be traded, what could the Bruins realistically expect back for Jake DeBrusk?
Gavin Lee
6:37
I don't think you'll get a first-round pick for him right now
6:38
You might get a second, but in all honestly it might just be a prospect
6:39
Listen, he had a brutal year. A brutal year. Not a lot of teams are going to be smashing down the door with a big offer for a player who scored 14 points and costs nearly $4MM
Especially when they know the Bruins would probably like to move on
Craig
6:40
Are the Red Wing's drafting Jesper Wallstedt?
Gavin Lee
6:40
That would certainly be fun, wouldn't it
Remember that Yzerman has done the first-round-goalie thing before
Vasilevskiy was 19th
6:41
At the end of the day, I think Wallstedt probably drops a little further than some are projecting right now..but remember that Detroit comes up again at 23
6:42
They would probably need to move up from there, but it's definitely possible
O’neal
6:42
Of the teams that didn’t make playoffs, which can make a big jump next season
Gavin Lee
6:43
Los Angeles, Ottawa, Rangers all spring to mind
Al Val
6:43
could the kings get Alex Tuch from Vegas he would fit in well with the rebuild
Gavin Lee
6:43
Haha. I think Alex Tuch would fit well in a lot of places
6:44
He's one of the better bargains in the NHL right now, don't think they will look to move him first
Now Rielly Smith on the last year of his deal...
