Schenn is certainly in for the long haul, locked in through 2028. He seems like the best candidate for sure.

jets asking, where do the big two Jets end up....

All quiet on the Western front here. I don't think Hellebuyck is getting any trade offers until he comes down on his salary demands.
11:50
That being said, Scheifele will have some serious suitors after a 40-goal year. Unfortunately for Winnipeg, I do think the league has caught on to his defensive deficiencies, so I don't think he'll generate a truly massive haul. They should still get quite a good return for his services, though, especially if they retain money.
11:51
Boston is an obvious answer there, but I have a gut feeling they'll prefer Elias Lindholm if he does in fact hit the trade market.
11:52
Otherwise, I wouldn't put it past Carolina to at least do their due diligence on Scheifele. Making the money work would be very difficult, but there's a fit there.
We've got time for one or two more questions here. Thanks for following along today everyone!

Did the Canes do enough? Orlov/Bunting are slight improvements, but they're not exactly big time players that get you over the hump.
Josh Erickson
11:53
I'd disagree that Orlov isn't a big time player. Quietly, he's been one of the most consistent and capable all-around defensemen in the league over the past decade. He's been in Carlson's shadow for sure, but he's shown quite clearly that he's a top-pairing caliber defender. Definitely moves the needle, even if it wasn't a huge area of need for the Canes.
11:55
I agree that Bunting is just a slight improvement, but you must also expect steps forward from both Svechnikov (23) and Jarvis (21) this year. They'll help a lot. I haven't been as high as public consensus on Carolina for the past few seasons, but I am now. I'd argue their defense corps are now clearly the best in the league from top to bottom.

Any chance fantilli plays this year or goes back to UM?
Josh Erickson
11:56
He's signed his entry-level contract already, which immediately ends his collegiate eligibility. There's no possibility of a return to school. He'll be in a CBJ jersey all season.

Do you see a team deeper at center then LA? I don’t see Kopitar dropping off the cliff, Danault is still defensive strong and now tad PLD. plus, they’re still loaded with prospects that play C.

Last one here. In terms of total value coming from 1C/2C/3C, I'm not sure I do think there's a deeper team, no. I'd watch out for Hintz, Johnston, and Duchene in Dallas though.

Thanks, all. I'll get another one of these going again on the normal Thursday later this week!
