Guys who might be fringe additions
Thought Seattle would be a good landing spot for him

Why did we sign zac rinaldo
Gavin Lee
6:53
Zero clue

What do you think of the Blackhawks moves this off-season?
Gavin Lee
6:55
Getting a Vezina winner for nothing--good
Signing Seth Jones to a huge extension after giving up two high picks and Adam Boqvist--bad
Jones is a good player, I don't fall on the analytics "he's trash" side.
But I don't love the move to get him and pay him
6:56
I've talked a lot on here about excess value. There is basically no chance he outperforms a 9.5M hit, probably even in year 1 of that contract.
I also don't really like the Tyler Johnson move, even though I have loved watching him play for a long time

Canucks off season moves. What’s your take?
Gavin Lee
6:57
I just don't like the OEL move
6:58
I don't think that gets you anywhere closer to a Cup
I love Conor Garland as a player, but I think there was an opportunity missed to get a cheap arbitration year before signing him
6:59
Overall, I think that's a mistake teams make
The idea that "he'll be so much more expensive next year if he has a great year" is offset by the fact that that means he had a great year on a cheap(er) contract
7:00
Getting out of those other deals, I mean, I guess is good if you don't think about Ekman-Larsson's money
7:01
But the fact is they made another long-term investment in a depth player, the same mistake they keep making
Tucker Poolman is an NHL defenseman
There's no reason to sign him for four years

How do you think Michael Bunting will do in Toronto
Gavin Lee
7:02
Great at the beginning, will slow down, then will be completely invisible
If I had to guess
7:03
I feel like a lot of people looked at his numbers and were impressed, without maybe watching him very much.
He's a fine little player, but he doesn't really create offense. His goals were very much capitalizing on opportunities

Well didn’t pay much for him so……
Gavin Lee
7:03
Very true, it's not a big mistake or anything, that's not what I mean
Just think it's not really a needle-mover for the Maple Leafs
7:04
I mean what did he shoot, like 30% last season?
26.3%. He had 38 shots on net, he scored 10 of them
7:05
They'll probably put him in the top-six to start, like they have done Ennis and Thornton and Vesey and etc etc etc
But just don't see him as a real fit there for a full season even

Who are you cup favorites at this point?
Gavin Lee
7:06
Colorado, Tampa, Florida,
Second tier of Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, Islanders, Golden Knights
Wreckage
7:06
So same as last years essentially?
Gavin Lee
7:06
Yep, pretty much
7:07
Actually you know who might be in that top group for me? Winnipeg
Calvin Pickard
7:08
CALVIN. PICKARD.
Gavin Lee

Okay folks, that's it
