Hello and welcome!
I have to host the chat a little early this week, so I hope some folks will filter in over the next few minutes.
Send in whatever questions you may have, and we'll get started in a little bit.

Hi, Gavin.  Do you think Detroit will look to acquire another forward now that Vrana is out 3-4 months?
Gavin Lee
5:19
I don't think they're going to try and replace Vrana, if that's what you mean. It probably is good news for Bobby Ryan, who already seemed like a good candidate for a contract, but now has even more room
5:20
But they weren't going to win this year anyway, no need to go out and get a replacement
Joe Sakic
5:20
Is my team okay with our forward depth to start the season?
Gavin Lee
5:20
I think they should be, yes.
5:21
Newhook pushing, O'Connor looks like a full-time contributor
It may not be quite as deep as previous years, but there's a lot there.
Ranta too

Bruins and Tuukka Rask really seem to be headed for a reunion at some point this season. How do you see the goalie situation playing out?
Gavin Lee
5:21
If he is healthy enough, he'll be back in Boston
5:22
He'll split with Ullmark down the stretch if that's true. I know Bruins fans want Swayman, but they want to win a Cup and right now he's still very unproven
Dan
5:23
Hey Gavin -- who do you think wins out for the D5 and D6 on the Ducks?  Does Mahura get his shot?  Also, any surprises make the team out of the gate?  Thanks!
Gavin Lee
5:24
I've liked Mahura for a long time, as readers of this chat will know
5:25
I really hope he gets that chance, but I still for whatever reason doubt it
5:26
Jacob Larsson just continues to get chances over him
5:27
I don't think there are any real surprises that will make it, unless it's McTavish somehow
Giving him a few games before sending him back would be fun, and lets him know exactly what he's working toward
Puckhead83
5:28
Chances Toronto does something crazy if there isn’t any progress? Trade Marner? Let Mathews go?
Gavin Lee
5:28
Well they certainly aren't going to let Matthews go
I think they are a long, long way from trading Marner too
Though if it was to blow up, it would have to be him that is moved
Ron Duguay
5:29
At some point, does the League intervene with the Eichel situation regarding his neck surgery?
Gavin Lee
5:29
That is what Friedman was lobbying for on his podcast, but I just don't think they can.
5:30
Other than making the Sabres show his medicals, perhaps, but they can't force Buffalo to let him get his surgery, that would be completely against the owner's bargaining
And you can't force Eichel anymore than Buffalo can, with the threat of suspension
Rod Brind'Amour's Abs
5:30
Given the deep prospect pool at centre and the KK signing, will the Canes hold on to Necas? Development at centre has been kind of slow, but he's still a great weapon.  Hate to lose him.
Gavin Lee
5:31
I don't think for a minute they are going to move Necas
He's a key part of that team.
They're going to start Kotkaniemi on the wing, remember, and Trocheck is a UFA at the end of the year.
Staal the year after that.
5:32
There will be a chance for him to get back to the middle, but even if he doesn't, he's effective enough on the wall that they would be crazy to move on
Derrek
5:32
Does Dylan Guenther make the Coyotes roster? He could be plugged right into the top 6
Gavin Lee
5:32
He probably could, you're right, but he won't.
5:33
They aren't going to start his entry-level clock on a year they're trying to lose
His deal can slide forward twice, they have him through 2025-26 on this ELC if they want
Jeff
5:34
What do you think of Ho Sang ? Do you think he makes the leafs ? Ahl or NHL contract?
Gavin Lee
5:34
I'll be honest, I don't see what Maple Leafs' fans (and perhaps hockey twitter in general) see in Ho-Sang.
