Hello and welcome folks!
The season has been interesting so far hasn't it?
I'll let some stuff roll in and get started in a few minutes.

Chances of Stone winning the Selke this year?
Gavin Lee
6:08
Don't get me wrong, he's absolutely one of the best defensive forwards in the league. But if I were betting, I'd say last year is as close as he gets.
6:09
It's just so hard for a winger to win the award
Michael
6:09
Which new coach will be able to solidify lines and get their respective teams rolling sooner? JQ or AV?
Gavin Lee
6:10
Probably the Panthers, because they have a better overall forward group.
6:11
It sounds like Patrick is at least progressing, but I'm worried about Philadelphia.
I never thought Kevin Hayes could take on the kind of responsibility he'd need to with that contract, and I worry about some of the other gambles they've made.
6:13
James van Riemsdyk is a luxury piece on a good team, I don't believe he can be a core forward that drives play.
He's absolutely devastating around the net, but unless you have the players that can do everything else, it's tough.

You think Sabres are holding off on trading Risto until Montour gets back? I have to believe he’s as good as gone. And who is the most likely trade partner?
Gavin Lee
6:14
I do think that move comes eventually, but not necessarily immediately after Montour returns.
I'm really not sure where he fits though, with a pretty hefty cap hit still there.
6:15
I know that he is still playing big minutes and now the Sabres are at least winning, but there are more and more front offices that will hold their nose at his possession stats.
6:16
The Canadiens and Jets have both been looking at defenders, though neither seems a good fit for Ristolainen.
Larry
6:17
But there stance on what they’re looking for has to have at least changed with the way Johansson is playing as the #2 center right? Maybe look at top 6 winger instead of a center. Sobotka would fit so much better on the 4th line
Gavin Lee
6:18
I think at this point they're not going to be able to be very picky at all--though your point is an apt one. The team could go get a winger instead.

What were the knocks against JT Miller in Tampa?
Gavin Lee
6:18
He's pretty good isn't he.
6:19
I've always enjoyed watching Miller play. He can play up in the lineup a little bit, but also gives you a nice physical winger if you need it.
I don't think Tampa Bay really had any problems, just needed to clear space to fit everyone in.
6:20
He wasn't important enough to their group to justify the big contract, but that's not because he wasn't good. They just have so many good forwards.
Matt
6:20
Is Jersey as bad as they seem? Where do you see them finishing?
Gavin Lee
6:20
They're certainly not as bad as they've looked so far.
6:21
But honestly, even though it is (very) early, it is still going to be a tough climb.
They need the goaltending to be better. They need P.K. Subban to be better. They need to get some production out of Hughes and Simmonds.
6:22
Taylor Hall isn't going to shoot 4% all season though, and their powerplay will eventually score a goal.
6:23
I think they'll be a bubble team, but eventually miss the playoffs.
Larry
6:25
Speaking of New Jersey, would Taylor hall to buffalo be a good option? Cap is close between him and Risto and they NEED offensive defensemen to help drive the play there.
Gavin Lee
6:25
I think the Devils would hang up immediately.
They'll be able to get a much better return for Hall if they want to trade him.

6:26
How did Jim Benning earn an extension?
Gavin Lee
6:27
Brock Boeser #23
Adam Gaudette #149
Elias Petterson #5
Michael DiPietro #64
Quinn Hughes #7
His drafting has been very good.
6:28
Whatever you want to say about his decisions to sign depth players to multi-year deals, the Canucks aren't in a terrible spot because of the high-end talent he's picked
Matt

Fans in Colorado are appalled at zadorov being benched for barberio. Does it make any more sense to a non biased hockey writer?
Gavin Lee
6:33
Frankly, this isn't the first time that Zadorov has done something to get in Bednar's doghouse.
I'm not sure I would have done it, but maybe it is as simple as wanting to keep everyone involved.
