Happy Halloween PHR faithful and welcome to another chat!
We'll get things started in a few minutes if folks are here instead of hitting the town.
Ducks
6:13
Do you like to makeup of the Anaheim Ducks roster? I know we won't see any big trades but do you have a under the radar move that will help him?Or do they just heal up and keep playing?
Gavin Lee
6:14
I don't think there is a magic potion trade for the Ducks to make them considerably better. They've actually been more impressive than I though they'd be this season.
This is what they're going to have to stay as, a young group with the odd veteran sprinkled in.
If that all meshes, maybe they surprise people all season. But going out to get more established "talent" isn't going to help them in the long run, I don't think.
The Gudbranson move, for instance, was a mistake in my mind.

Do you think Carolina has a legitimate chance to make a Cup run. What could they be looking to add?
Gavin Lee
6:15
They definitely have enough to make a Cup run this season, and the amazing part is they also have two first-round picks if they want to spend at the deadline.
6:16
You might have pointed to net as a place for an upgrade, but behind that stellar defense both have looked good so far.
6:18
Carolina will always be looking for some more up front, but remember they also don't have Nino Niederreiter clicking at full speed right now and have some pieces in the minors they could recall if necessary.
I don't think they really need to push their chips to the middle this deadline. They are going to be good for a long while.
Bruins
6:18
Any chance bruins trade for a winger when Miller is cleared to play ? Since there be overload on defense .
Gavin Lee
6:19
I think there is a good chance that at some point they will be adding a winger, I'm just not as convinced it would be as soon as Miller returns.
The old adage "these things have a way of working themselves out" comes to mind
Having 10 NHL-level defensemen isn't exactly a problem, even if you can only dress six at a time.
Bruins
6:20
Great ! Any ideas on wingers they could be interested in ?
Gavin Lee
6:20
Hard to know that at this point, but I still doubt they'll be in on the big big ones like Hall.
6:21
A really, really interesting name for a lot of teams at the deadline will be Mike Hoffman if the Panthers fall out of it or decide to move on.
6:22
He's instant offense that teams would love to have for a playoff run
Pitmanrich
6:22
How much control do teams have over drafted players playing in Europe? ie Karl henriksson has just been loaned out in the Swedish league would the rangers have to OK that or do they have no say in the development?
Gavin Lee
6:23
Henriksson in particular I don't think would have any involvement from the Rangers, because he hasn't signed his ELC. He's technically not a Ranger yet.
6:24
But players who do sign and are loaned overseas, the NHL organization has at least some say (though it varies) over their development. There are also obviously relationships between teams that can give some informal say
Remember that teams can speak directly with an agent for a draftee too, who can push for a certain thing to happen.
Bruins
6:25
Any chance bruins use krug to grab a real winger ? Or you think he resigns ? Or walks for nothing
Gavin Lee
6:25
I doubt very much that they will move Krug, even if he doesn't have an extension at the deadline.
Whether he re-signs? Players that are looking for that much money are always hard to predict.
Chuck
6:25
Hawks rough start doesnt get better. Regime change for GM?
Gavin Lee
6:26
It is interesting, because people are pointing to Colliton as the one who will get the axe first if things continue to go south. But the management group are the ones who fired Joel Quenneville for Colliton in the first place, a move that has to come with some repercussions if it doesn't work.
I'm not sure if it would happen midseason, or at all really, but things are looking rough in Chicago right now.
6:27
The decision to keep Dach and bring up Boqvist reeks of desperation, even if both are extremely talented.
Bill
6:29
Do you think Connor Clifton gets sent to minors before they could lose him on waivers?
Gavin Lee
6:29
For now, Clifton is actually still waiver-exempt.
I guess that might be what you are referring to.
6:30
I don't think they'll be putting him on waivers at any point, if that's what you mean.
If they have any inkling he's heading down at some point, I think they would send him down before he becomes eligible.
They're not going to risk losing him
Bruins
6:31
It seems bruins get it done with 1 line . Which not enough scoring to win a cup . Why don’t sweeney see he needs a scoring winger for krejci to help scoring ?
Gavin Lee
6:32
Obviously you need more than one line, but I don't think you can really expect some of these players to continue to be kept off the board entirely.
Jake DeBrusk, Danton Heinen, Charlie Coyle have all shown scoring ability in the past.
