I still think he will have some productive seasons.

Making a move for that kind of player is tougher for St. Louis.

Even though it seems like they have plenty of cap space right now because of long-term injured reserve, they aren't actually banking any. That means that if Tarasenko ever comes back he pushes them over the top--it's a complicated situation.
Now don't get me wrong, there are ways to make room.

And Toffoli might be a good fit. It's just tough, and maybe not worth it for a player that isn't in much of a groove

Their start has been almost perfect.
It's incredible what that top line is doing, to be frank.

In terms of acquisitions, I think they'll be on those secondary guys--not the Taylor Hall or someone like that.
Maybe Toffoli, though that would have to come later on.
There will be lots of players that come out of the shadows as trade candidates later though.
They don't need to make a move right now because of their start.

I don't know when it will happen, but there is a buzz out there that the Avalanche are going to be going hard after the big fish this year.
Who knows if it will work, but boy would that be a dangerous team when everyone gets back and they add.

That's definitely going to be considered, but Bill Guerin is taking a slow, slow approach to this.
He watched what happened when Fenton made sweeping changes, and doesn't want to make those same mistakes.

Fiala's value is at an all-time low probably, so unless there is just no path to redemption, I would think they give him every chance to get back on track
