Shesterkin is still well above average, but this is the second year in a row that he hasn't gotten off to the best start. I'd imagine Drury is hoping to parlay that into a slightly lower AAV than what Shesterkin may have been demanding at the start of the season. It'll still be eight figures (duh), but if they wait just a little bit longer and he doesn't start putting up some .930s more consistently, they can get him in the $10.5-$11.5MM range instead of the $11.5-12.5MM range.

Hoo boy. Feel like Collin Graf (SJS) and Denton Mateychuk (CBJ) are the obvious answers here. I'll go with a slightly less high-profile name... Calgary's Rory Kerins has been BALLING. 13 goals in 16 games (leads the league), +13 rating is also highest among forwards. Sixth-round pick in 2020, was an ECHLer as recently as 2022-23. He's an injury or two away from forcing his way onto the NHL roster.

I'm not even touching the defense. Would like a middle-six left wing and a 4C, depending on if Lazar can make a comeback.

Ryan Donato, that would look nice for that middle-six wing. Wonder if they'd be willing to pay up/if Nashville would be willing to move on from Colton Sissons too, that would be an expensive ($2.8MM) but certainly premier fourth-line option down the middle.
