Hello and welcome to another chat!
I see my idea of putting the post up a little early seems to have worked.
Not sure why I didn't do that before.

Do you think Hartman has chance to make Team USA
Gavin Lee
6:02
Unfortunately he wasn't put on the long list and hasn't been doing the drug testing to this point
6:03
There is a way to get him on, which may happen, but it seems unlikely to me
The same can be said about Troy Terry, I think. I don't believe he was on the long list either

How hot is Lindy Ruff's seat right now? Do they let him finish out the year and maybe go after someone like Grönborg in the offseason
Gavin Lee
6:04
I do wish Gronborg would get a chance in the NHL, but I'm not holding my breath
As for Ruff's seat, don't think it's that hot
6:05
Had to deal with an injured Hughes for the first part of the year, team has had a lot of very close losses
This year for me was all about the Devils competing right to the end of the season, even if they didn't make it
I don't think Fitzgerald would necessarily rush to make a change

What's your take on the Blues being forced to play shorthanded due to the NHL not giving salary cap relief for players in COVID protocol? Doesn't seem like a great look for the league and also seems like an easy fix that should have already happened.
Gavin Lee
6:06
Well, in the Blues case, it's not like they have a ton of players in the protocol.
They've been skirting the top of the cap all season, it's kind of a problem of their own making
6:07
There was a reason why no one thought they could keep Tarasenko after the Buchnevich deal
The cap just didn't make a lot of sense, and they're having to pay that price now
Still, I don't know if I love the way things are being handled around the league.
6:08
I think there should have been at least a goaltending clause, where you could activate an emergency recall without playing down, or using the two built into the current CBA
6:09
The Blues could have full skaters if they want--just send Perunovich down and call two guys up. I know they don't want to do that, but that's kinda the point of the cap--you can only have so much talent on a team
6:10
The biggest thing right now for that organization is that Springfield also has a COVID outbreak
In fact a huge part of the AHL does, which isn't great.

Who’s the best acquisition possible for a cup run for the Wild Miller, Horvat, Boeser,Hertl, Giroux, Dylan Strome, Stastny, Ryan Strome, Dvorak from Montrea, anyone else?
Gavin Lee
6:10
Wow
Out of that group I would pick...Hertl probably?
6:11
I think he'd be a great fit with that Wild group
But you'll have to convince the Sharks they're not in a playoff race

The Bruins are in a funk. I think they need to make a trade. I see them being a good trade partner with Vancouver. Can you through some names together that would benefit both clubs to shake things up?
Gavin Lee
6:12
The thing about trades from the Canucks is that everyone comes with term
I mean I guess Boeser doesn't, but he's comes with an expensive qualifying offer at least
6:13
And Boston's biggest need in my eyes is a second line center
So that is Horvat or Miller, I guess.
Just don't see the fit between those two

I'm new to hockey, and cannot understand how the 4 "lines" work.  Would you please provide a tutorial?  For instance, with the Kraken, the lines are composed differently for every game.  Is that true of every team?  Why?  Do the coaches play with the order they're on the ice, trying for strategic advantages?  Are there any rules (or customs) about that?
Gavin Lee
6:14
Wow! Welcome to hockey, we're glad to have you!
6:17
Lines in hockey are necessary because of how much energy is spent in short bursts. Players can't stay out for much longer than say, a minute at a time, so they have groups of substitutions that they can call to go out all at once.

Some coaches mix things up every game--or during the game, even--but some build long-term lines that stay together all season. In Boston, for instance, the line of Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron-David Pastrnak has stayed together mostly untouched for years.

The order of sending them out doesn't usually go 1-2-3-4. The third and fourth lines (known sometimes as the "bottom-six") are usually comprised of cheaper players that don't have a lot of offensive upside. They're often used to defend against the other team's best players, giving the more dynamic scoring threats a chance to rest.
There's a lot more to it than that, but hopefully that helps a bit

The Avs need a goalie for a playoff run who’s the best fit Fluery Price Khudobin or someone else
Gavin Lee

Definitely not Price, they can't afford him
