CBJ now have 14m in space, Dubois should be ~7, with only Gavrikov left to re-sign. Since he's not eligible for other offer sheets, what do you see them spending on him? Would CBJ have another 6m to spend on a big ticket? Seems like they need one more winger if they don't want to bank their future on unprovens like Texier, Bemstrom and Foudy.

The only other thing I'll mention in regards to Columbus clearing the deck is that they very well could be one of the teams affected by the financial environment. Kekalainen has said that ownership will back any of his "ideas" but I don't think any team is entirely out of the woods financially

In a season like this, to keep costs short, I do think some teams will leave several million in cap space open through the first half of the year and try to make their splash at the deadline, when actual salaries are lower
Remember if you have cap space, it accrues each day, meaning you can spend a lot more at the deadline
