It's not just the points, it's his speed. It's how well-rounded of an offensive talent he is. It's entering "who cares if he can play defense" territory... he creates in so many different ways

I'm as confused as you are. He hasn't looked great in Cleveland this year either... at least not a step forward from last year. I think firing Kekalainen was too little too late, honestly – I don't think it's impossible Jiricek submits a trade request if he's not given some assurance by management that they view him as an impact piece

This run of losing play wasn't unforeseeable. Their possession numbers this year have been that of a rebuilder, not a contender. There's still some more work to do, even if the vibes took a major step forward this year
Plus, how long were you gonna get top-10 goaltending out of Alex Lyon?

I do think he'll be more active over the summer, though. You have to juggle those defenders. Maatta is a keeper – probably their best shutdown guy. Gostisbehere has to be a third-pairing player at even strength and Petry isn't gonna cut it in the top-four anymore. I think he tries to move both him and Holl

I don't think they were ever going anywhere with that defense. Their goaltending has been pretty good after a rough year for Binner last year. I think they're in a really tough spot. They're too good to tear it down, but they need to massively overhaul their D
