Okay folks, that's where we'll sign off. Draft is over, but the fun isn't done
9:42
Tomorrow things should go crazy when the freeze opens, check back at PHR nice and early because I'm sure some stuff will come out before the deadline
Then it's draft day on Friday!
Stupid Rule
9:42
An expansion draft is different than a trade. Plus shouldn't certain players be willing to waive them in order to help their team? Like the Bruins could have exposed Coyle and not worry about him getting picked and used that extra spot to keep ritchie or Luzon

Okay just one last thing because I know this stuff gets confusing
9:43
No-movement clauses have nothing to do with trades
They often include full no-trade clauses, but an NMC blocks a player from being waived
That's it's biggest purpose, and guaranteeing that the player doesn't have to be involved in things like expansion drafts
You can hand out full no-trade clauses without giving out a no-move, and many teams have
Players are also welcome to waive them for expansion, many did this year
9:44
Bishop, Price, Weber, etc etc
Coyle, in your example, could have done it, but he certainly would have been at risk of selection
He negotiated an NMC into the deal, and the Bruins complied, because he wants to stay in Boston, full stop
Not Providence, not Seattle
9:45
In fact, in Coyle's case, he doesn't have a full no-trade clause
Just a 10-team no-trade and an NMC
If you think it's a dumb rule, don't give it out! David Poile refuses to give out trade protection, and he often has to pay higher prices because of it
9:46
Anyway, I'll still be holding my regular chat tomorrow night! See you all then.
